Took the advantage of a socking great tailwind and light Sunday morning traffic to nick the tile that only has the A303 on it by Popham Services

That sounds like the tile which can also be bagged by going to the western extremity of the grounds of Basingstoke crematorium.

That's the one.  Though when I looked, the Crem didn't seem to quite make it.  Anyway, it's bagged now, as were three more isolated ones on the way back from Oxford today - I am running out of options to add squares on my Oxford commutes.  In a few weeks time, when things have dried up, I will pick up those that require gravel tracks.  Including Hackwood Park, which will immediately turn my 12 x 12 into a 17 x 17 or 18 x 18.
Eddington Numbers 130 (imperial), 183 (metric) 574 (furlongs)  116 (nautical miles)

After squinting at maps and satellite images, I still wasn't sure about the crem, but went there anyway, and leaned over the fence with my arm outstretched clutching my garmin, to give me the best chance of crossing the tile boundary.

Which reminds me of two other tiles which involved leaning with an outstretched arm, but in these cases with waves lapping over the toes of my boots.

When I did that one it was straight along the A303 at 3am, as part of an overnight dynamo shakedown ride from London at sunset to Stonehenge at sunrise. All other rides in the area came later.

I take it I’m not the only one who has entered an event with tile-bagging
 in-mind!?

I was down at Grand Old Dukes in Aberfoyle over the weekend with some friends. A few tiles nibbled with rides before the event, and then a bunch of new Aberfoyle ground covered before I gave up trying to plug my tubeless tyre, but all just a first start on future areas to link into the cluster eventually.

Relative novice here... how do you get the VV tiles shown on OS mapping?  That would make planning rides a lot easier!

@FifeingEejit, I think I got the Pitmedden tile you are referring to by riding up someone's driveway, a deer farm, IIRC.

@bhoot, on the activities tab map view, there are two icons on the top left hand corner. Click on the lower of the two to get a choice of layers including OS....

OS Leisure is available as a mapping layer  (Stack of pizza boxes top left corner of the map)

Sounds like Pitlour

Today I went out again, I'm not fit enough for that just now but anyway, I've got asparagus and strawberries in a few weeks and my longest ride this year is 100k.....

5 tiles bagged, the road I missed in Pitemweem, the road I missed in Kinneuchar and the yellow that I'm convinced wasn't there before going up to the golf course at Colinsburgh.

Next fife tiles I want to grab are around the cameron reservoir, I can see how to get Nether Radernie/ WEst end of Resv. I can see how to get Winthank and still annoyed I missed it the day I rode up from Denhead Farm (not really), I can see how to get ether Baldinnie twice on the MTB, what I can't see is how to get the one north of New Gilston as the woods behind Falfield look shut off.

Also I've not missed anymore roads, I only need to go up purin den to have grabbed all Coloured Roads on the OS map of the former North East Fife District.

I'll need to dig out the old map to see where Kirkcaldy District was for the next set,
Roads wise I can quite easily knock off Methil and Buckhind, but the Standing Stane...

Or the Route tab which may have less clutter on it.

Via the farm track from Peat Inn? Or field wandering from the road heading N out of New Gilston?

I still need this one so will be interested in feedback…

I got some squadratinhos on the cycle-banned West Approach Road in Edinburgh the other night as it’s part closed for bridge repairs

The N of New Gilston one, I just popped into a field in the extreme SW corner of the tile. IIRC, there was a very conveniently located gate.

Cameron Reservoir, was straight forward the carpark and a grassy trail on the South shore.

For Standingstane, I took my MTB from Glenrothes station and took a left on the road South after a couple of hundred yards. Through a wind farm mainly but I seem to remember a rough path lots of large stones, so not one for the road bike... I also think there's a footpath for the last stretch of Standingstane to Windygates. Understand reluctance on Standingstane, some really sh!t driving there.

The track fro. pest in looks a good one, I thought it just went into a farm but strava global heat map shows it being popular with locals for runs, so I have an MTB loop set up for some night out there.

I could just write off the standing stone from counting as a road in the same way I'm doing the A92 from queens way circle south, it's basically a motorway.
I know how to bag the tiles as there's plenty to mtb round there.
on the other hand I also think I can do it in relatively short chunks, and I've one of the main roads in Methil to ride anyway...
or trak down some relatives in Methil and see if they'll drive tt support car style.

"glenrothes with Thornton" was my guess, Markinch is just Markinch, despite bein much closer to glenrothes.

... without a hard shoulder

I purposely got the A702 and A68 during lockdown, seemed the only way

Not a good idea to get them mixed up after a day drinking in Embra DNAMHIKT  :hand:

that's easy
to go to Thornton you get a glenrothes train (soon leven)
to go to glenrothes you get a Perth or Dundee train (occasionally Aberdeen)

yeah, I bagged to A92 to the tay Bridge as soon as I could (pulled calf just before lock down). I'd ridden down the hill southbound in the evening before but never had a reason to ride the whole thing, at least it's reasonably quiet in the wee hours.
even at night the "Fife regional road" is a bit too busy to bother counting.

Oh, good idea. That bit has stopped me extending my Squadratinho square recently - I had planned to go into the Russell Road depot, but it's been closed the only time I've been past.
