Tiermat told me 6-630.

Say I was to cycle back to Sunderland after, what's the A167 like to Durham/Ferryhill at that time of night? Not going to get a chance to plot a more complicated route.

Correct on time.

Can't help with the A167 any further north than NTR, I am afraid :) Dean will know.

So how about a quick loop out to Knayton, and (maybe)Upsall, then back, via Borrowby, to Fox and Hounds then a fast blast back into town?

I've never heard of any of those places, so it sounds perfect.

I'm probably/hopefully getting into NTR about half 4 on the Grand Central direct from Sunderland, gives me time for a coffee before getting to yours sometime after 6. See you later.

Bloody brilliant, that is all.

OK, in more detail, perfect weather, excellent route which included hills, lovely beer and a FAST blat back. My legs are going to feel it tomorrow, but it was worth it!

Word to the wise, never try keeping up with Bunbury!

Aye, that was a lovely night. Loads of cyclists out, cracking route in summery weather, couple of hills, decent beer, friendly staff and amazing deep-fried potato skins at the pub. Company was alright, too.

I even enjoyed the ride down, which involved a late finish at work and a trudge through a foot of cowpat to avoid cattle feeding time on the bridleway. I get the feeling that farmer doesn't welcome passers-by. Boy, did I hum by the time I got to chez tiermat, especially after using a guy on a Cervelo as a pacemaker. I could tell I had him worried, as he kept looking back, and I sailed past him at the lights on the high street.

I quite enjoyed me and Dale charming our way onto the northbound East Coast train, and seeing Phartiphuckbolz still sitting on the platform, having failed to charm his way onto the southbound train, too :D

"Hi, I'm Phartiphuckborlz"

"Phuck off my train then"

I got home eventually.

Our guard was incredibly stressed - I was just apologising and explaining and readying myself to ride home when he turned and let us on. How was yours?

That photo looks better on my phone. Needs more filter  ;D

The 167 was fine out of Darlington, apart from one bellend who must have been doing over 100 when he passed me with a couple of feet to spare.

This is the video I was on about, how to say 12 months in Estonian...

I could make that. Do you let fat blokes join in?

No*.

:)

*Of course we do, if we restricted it to race whippets no one would ever be out, myself included...

I'll be down on Thursday. I've no obligations on the Friday, but I have to work out how to transport a couple of wheels down. Cable-tied to the rack is current favourite!

That was fun, again!

First visitation of this year, and the first for Dave(NOTP) in a long, long time. So much so that he didn't have a tube, a pump or levers!

Anyway, leaving THoFC we rode in the direction of the village green, onto the golf club, past the Equestrian Centre (yes, down Shark Lane).  This is where the puncture happened. We stood around while Deano was the champion of tube replacement.

Through Thirntoft, down to Great Langton, over the bridge over the Swale and onto Kirby Fleetham.  We stopped here for a drink and discovered that the food is $HOW_BLOODY_MUCH :o

Dave and Adie (again, NOTP) needed to get back so we resolved to ride toward Scruton with them and myself and Deano would stop for food whilst the other two disappeared toward NTR.

More beer, burger and gammon was consumed, then a fast blat back to civilisation.  Back home by 21:30.  I really really enjoyed it.

No ride next week due to holidays and cheffing duties. Back the week after, though (6th August)
