My half a plan is a little loop out to Kirklevington via Seamer and then back through Picton / Crathorne - if the weather is pants I'll just ride the 13 km or so direct via Seamer

I suspect fboab will ride straight from work - so she'll be coming from Billingham direction. I'll risk almost certain death a fast blat along the A173 to Ayton, and then hit the lanes through Seamer. Might catch you on the road somewhere. Last one up Hutton Bank buys a round. No... wait... dammit.

Here was my thought on route, I'll already be at the top of the bank  particularly looking forward to Weary Bank  I must have ridden it in my youth, but I have no recollection of it these days!

Slight hiccup in that The Bay Horse want us to book, and we can have 6:30 or 8.

I can do either but would prefer 6:30. (I'm on pretty short hours this week)

Or we could go elsewhere.

Wheatsheaf, Hutton Rudby?

Never been there. Could be a dive.

The Fox Covert was always a good bet in the olden days.  You could either book a table in the restaurant or take your chances in the bar.

Mind, it's the Wednesday before Christmas so everywhere is probly busy.

What about the Royal Oak in Great Ayton?

I tried calling the Wheatsheaf but got no answer- anyone would think they had a pub to run.

I'll try again tomorrow lunchtime.
I'd be happy with any of the alternatives- but I'm bloody idle and it surely means a longer ride home for you & tiermat?

We're in at The Wheatsheaf

7:15, I said up to 6 of us?

I assume Deano's still back-shifting, will you be joining us Ruthie?

Right now I want to stay in bed for ever because everyone I work with is a twat and I hate my life.  I should probably see how I feel when I've had some sleep.

I think I'm still a 'maybe'.

Yebbut, we're not work, and that's why it's OK to come. But no pressure either way.

This plus I can have a word with OD and ask to borrow his 'healing hands' for Wednesday night (I believe him when he says they work!) :D
Plus added side show of essex double negatives in a Boro accent!

Phew!  Lots of sleep and I'm human again.

jiberjaber's route to the pub looks great, I used to love those roads when I lived over that way.  Unfortunately there is no route so pleasant from where I live, unless I ride an unfeasibly long way for a school night with an early start tomorrow.  Getting home will be a PITA as well.  So I guess I'm out.

I'm sure it will be a splendid evening  8)

Boo, that's a shame.

Train to Thornaby, then ride out to the lanes via Maltby? 15km each way to HR. Just sayin'  :).

WEDNESDAY Night Northallerton and Environs Social Ride (WNNES?) to Hutton Rudby The Wheatsheaf was a great alternative to curried sprouts in Essex and a shorter distance since I was already only 13km away from the destination!

A trundle out via the 18% delight of Weary Bank and on to Saltergill Lane for some festive COR then in to H/R for a bargain Parmo and chips whilst mixing with Audax & YACF royalty. Whats not to like!
A rapid journey home and a quick couple of pints with my Dad in Southern Cross completed the night out... not a bad way to spend a Wednesday night :)

Great catching up with you guys!

Working for The Man. Nonconformity will be frowned upon.

Will he also have to go to work in a suit? The horror, THE HORROR!
VELOMANCER

Well that's the more blunt way of putting it but as usual he's dead right.

Aye, it were grand.

I wimped out, due to week 12 and a hurty hip, thus I drove.

Took ages (well at least 3 minutes) to find a parking space, but once I got to the pub it was easy to find Chris and boab as they were sat in the window!

J joined us, later.

Beer was drunk, parmo eaten. I haven't really slept properly due to the latter making it feel like I have swallowed a bowling ball!

As for the hair, it's just the angle, honest.

As discussed, last night, I think we should have an easy, short one next week, maybe even with bikes being optional! I suggest we head for Northallerton's smallest pub (grabbing some food on the way as they only do crisps and pork scratchings), to enjoy the range of beer and Cider they have on offer.

We have a prior engagement on Wednesday but could do Tuesday or Thursday. There will be a couple of boablets but they are old enough to drink now. (How did that happen?)

Either or both work for me (dates, that is, not boablets)!

Either meet at mine or at the pub.

Thursday is good for us. We will probably come half on bike and half in van, as we have boablets. This means a lift is available for anyone who can even vaguely claim to be 'on the way'.
