Title: Alter route during ride how?
Post by: bryn on 26 August, 2012, 10:58:10 pm
The Etrex30 auto routing function works very well, but I can't find how to amend a route once it is underway.  I would like to use the powerful auto routing function to save time over manually laying down multiple waypoint on the Etrex map to create a complete route.

Is there any way I can insert a waypoint/waypoints into the already current routepoint list?  Menu clicking on a routepoint in the ActiveRoute routepoint list didn't give insert as an option.

At present I have to create  a new auto route to the new waypoint, then when I have reached it,  an auto  route to the final destination.

This obviously only applies when I am out in the field, not when I am sitting in front of BaseCamp/Bikehike!

I didn't try it very often, but on the old eTrex & 60CSx, what I remember doing used to be something along the lines of ...
stop navigating
create a new waypoint (click on map, name & save)
edit route. main menu --> routes --> select
delete the waypoints you've already passed
add a new waypoint.  add next point --> waypoints --> select  --> use
move it up/down to the correct point in the sequence
start navigating the new version of the route

Maybe you can edit the route without stopping navigating, and recalculate after the new waypoint has been added.
