Worcestershire new railway station gaff.

Worcestershire Parkway is a new multi million pound railway station opened on Sunday. Worcestershire County Council in conjunction with GWR have sent in the post over 100,000 leaflets telling residents of the news. Only problem the map shows the new station very close to motorway junction 7 but states the motorway is the M4 not the M5.  ;D

gaffe noun:
an unintentional act or remark causing embarrassment to its originator; a blunder.

Whereas...

gaff - noun:
1. a stick with a hook or barbed spear, for landing large fish.
2. [sailing] a spar to which the head of a fore-and-aft sail is bent ("a gaff-rigged cutter").
3. [British slang, archaic] a person's home, esp a flat (Also called: penny-gaff a cheap or low-class place of entertainment, especially a cheap theatre or music hall in Victorian England).

verb: seize or impale with a gaff.

I do think you'll find the full stop at the end of 'gaff' clearly indicates an abbreviated form.

It's a gaffe about a gaff, surely?
It is simpler than it looks.

Looks like you're hoping to gaff someone who takes the bait.
