I arrived home in one piece after the training camp, I do not ache, I feel great, I want to cycle lots and lots and I am faster and fitter.

I met some great people, I cycled on fantastic roads, admired the most amazing scenery and only had two cakes all week.

The local youth cycling club has just been donated a prize won by a friend of one of the coaches in a raffle.

A coaching session from Sir Chris Hoy!

Good one to get the local papers involved and some great publicity.

My friend Mike (who has now got 3 kidneys inside him  :D) is being discharged from hospital today. He can now consider so many things that he has been unable to do for the past 4 years

That is wonderful news.  My daughter, Abs, plays the recorder.  She has a way to go though.

I have a student with me on placement for 8 weeks. It's 3 or 4 years since I last supervised a student and I was a bit anxious about it. She started yesterday and she appears to be bright, knowledgeable, sensible, enthusiastic, pleasant, keen to learn and has a sense of humour!

I've inadvertently become friends with an amplifier designer/builder of top repute who shall be building me a bunch of 5kw switchmode lightweight amps at cost price! My current amps weigh 35kg for a 5kw, new ones are 8.7kg each! This also means more efficiency.

We won the annual village pub quiz last night!  Our table strategy of 'lets get pissed' worked a treat, we even managed to beat the 4-year reigning champions, a table of cambridge academics ;D

it was mainly due to Mrs Mikes extensive medical history (as a patient :D) and my GSCE History teacher being obsessed with the Chinese cultural revolution.

AND - even more excitingly, I recognised one of the people on the team next to us, but couldnt remember where from..  About four pints through the evening someone told me she was in the old St Trinians films!!!

For the first time since January I have enough strength & mobility with my right elbow to be able to lift & pour from a full kettle of water.
It remains to be seen if I can lift a full 750ml bottle from a cage on the downtube whilst riding.
There's a good reason to go for a ride ;D

Well that's it now. After today's Pennine ride there will be no more proper bike rides between now and our holiday next week. I think that is good news.

I'm off to spend the day with my friend. She's been working far too hard lately, so as the weather is fabulous, I'm going to get her away from computer and out for the day
