Title: London Nocturne
Post by: Tim Hall on 20 May, 2012, 05:35:26 pm: I see that the 2012 London Nocturne is creeping up on us. An evening of Penny racing, folder racing and more traditional eyes out full on racing.

My sinister agents tell me that zigzag is riding in the folder race. He led the field last year until the final bend, where he was cruelly overtaken.

And I get the feeling Charlotte will be there on her Penny. I seem to recall Darkpoint was there last year inna Penny stylee too.

A fair few of the YACF massive went along last year. I hope to get there this year (although I'm travelling back from Scout camp that day).

Tim - you missed out the added entertainment of laughing at all the fakengers, and Rapha-men*.

Yay! If you fancy boosting your chances a bit, I could always bring Chutney (Dahon Speed Pro TT)....;) Keith's a monster though. Jealous of the guy who's got a Verge X30H (there are two Tern riders)..

Post by: zigzag on 09 June, 2012, 10:29:16 pm: just back from the event - great fun, and the crowd was amazing! i set off first and was leading for two laps until the dutch guy blitzed me (and everyone else). finished at the back of the first group, i reckon 7th or 8th. was pleased to meet and speak to StuAff, darkpoint and Ray Kelly.
i'd have liked to watch the elite riders racing, but decided to go home and get some sleep before "the ditchling devil" audax tomorrow.

Well, he is Jeroen Janssen- Dutch rider from Team Raleigh. And he was on a prototype Dahon 30th anniversary model....When he went, no-one could keep up, and I know how fast Rimas, Keith Henderson and Richard Bailey are first hand!

Indeed. The one with what looks like all the entrants spanning Grand Avenue is particularly impressive.

And another thing....
Mr. Summerfield and Graham Mc Pherson aka Suggs. Have they ever been seen together?
Or is it just the hat?

Post by: zigzag on 08 June, 2013, 10:44:07 pm: yay, podium finish! thanks to everyone encouraging, screaming, supporting - brilliant atmosphere. special thanks to loadsabikes who machined the steerer for this bike so i could install proper drop bars on it. kudos to Keith H, who i must admit is a stronger rider and took a deserved victory (fourth time?..). well, if i do some speed training next year - ... ::-) ;D

(now off to bed for an early start tomorrow - ditchling :demon: 200)

Mice didn't get lost, as she had lots of people to follow. <cough> all of the rest of the field </cough>

I did manage to get my bit of the crowd shouting for her thobut. A couple of pics will follow later.

The normal races are definitely boring in comparison..

The highlight for me was after the race, I met Michael Hutchinson after giving him some reassurances, taught him how to ride a penny farthing!

I think that makes my weekend hugely successful!
