Rollers with resistance - any recommendations?
« on: 05 December, 2015, 01:51:06 pm »
rollers are great for warm up, improving the balance and cadence. for power training - it depends. on rollers without added resistance (tacx antares) it feels a bit too easy - in 52x11 gear i get 151w at 90rpm with hr=130, when in reality i can ride at 180-200w all day long.
so, to improve the quality of workouts i'm looking at a variable resistance rollers and wondering if anyone could recommend some? they should be quiet and fold small. anyone tried the planet x ones?

Add something into a slave rear wheel that creates air resistance.

Gaffer tape and cardboard sideways on the rim and down the spokes.

These will be paddles in a fluid. Card paddles in an air fluid instead of metal paddles in a gel fluid.

having used traditional turbo trainers and also rollers, I find this type of trainer to offer the best resistance options and the nearest to really riding the bike:
