Title: Teifi Traveller (Land of my Fathers) 300km 26th May 2012
Post by: Gog yn y De on 20 March, 2012, 08:30:20 am
Does anyone have the route or GPX file for this (http://www.aukweb.net/events/detail/12-463/) ride? I'd just like to check to see exactly where it goes and how steep it is so that I can determine a) which bike to use and b) whether it's too early in the year for me considering my currently level of fitness/recovery.

Thanks.

Sorry no GPS track details to send over but it is 14075ft of ascent based on my GPS for last year, just one big climb at the end, which is lovely, although last year in the mist with viz of approx 6ft, was very interesting.  You won't be disappointed with the ride, its pan flat for the first 40 miles then a couple of biggish climbs before a steady middle section of 100 miles, then the great finale.

This is my log from last year's ride:

http://connect.garmin.com/activity/87171222

I think we cheated a bit by going up and down the east side of the Teifi from Lampeter to Tregaron instead of going up on the western side and back on the eastern side.  Also ignore the first lap - that was my ride to the start. No ride home unfortunately - Mrs Miniog came to collect me because I was shivering after getting drenched going over the Black Mountain. Happy days!

I will probably be doing it again this year.

Anybody else riding this?

Looking at the arrows on the weather map it could be world-record pace out to Cardigan

Remember the sun tan lotion!

It's long, hilly but the weather and scenary will be fantastic

It'll be a lonely ride though as I'll be riding single speed - I'm anti-social anyway  :smug:
