World Naked Bike Ride Southampton (predictably NWS)
« on: 07 June, 2008, 12:52:19 am »
Twas a lovely evening here in southampton.  I finally got the balls to ride, and couldn't let the occasion pass by without getting some photos, so did my mostly nude lap of soton with the SLR swinging from my neck.  Photographing from a moving bike proved rather challenging but proved worth it to capture peoples expressions as 100 nekkid cyclists trundled by.

Preparing for the off on Southampton common

"Press photographer slain by naked AUK mad man"

Doubt he gets hired for many childrens parties...

"Now could you please execute a right turn after that group of naked cyclists"

Foxxy longboarder ;D

The only officers I saw on the whole ride, and some of the tiny minority who weren't smiling :P

Heading towards town

The photo that destroyed the ego :-\

On our way back up the avenue

And finally me!

What a fabulous set of photos, Bomber - especially the ones showing all the smiling spectators.

Splendid stuff.

When it's so obvious that a bit of nudity spreads so much happiness and fun, why do we spend so much of our lives covered up?

Because this country has always been run by a puritanical bunch of miserable bastards.

That's a relief! I didn't see my daughter there! (Just done her finals at Uni - I thought she might be celebrating  :o )

I reckon it's more of a relief for her than it is for you... ::-)

I was hoping for the 'pervy way'....  :'(

Disappointed by the lack of a photo of you in flagrante, Bomber  ;) - but otherwise it looked like fantastic fun!

I've been out for years, my dear!   ;D

I would - except blinding Londoners with the sight of my naked flesh wobbling in the sunlight would probably be classed as a terrorist act... and I don't fancy 42 days locked up with Jacqui Smith.   I may wander out with my camera though.  :demon:

Was it a cold day?  I'm just wondering why all the photographers have resorted to telephoto lenses?    ;D

I would have thought that an unsullied beauty such as yourself, Reg, ought to make the effort. ::-)

Are you wearing the piece of cod which passeth all understanding? ::-)

Wonderful product placement there - it's quite hard to pick out a Co-op bank in a random photo! ;D

Great pictures  :D

Very impressed with the guy on the recumbent trike.  I was warned against riding my 'bent on the WNBR as I was told I might whistle when I got up to speed...

Regulator - the WNBR is a celebration of body freedom and a protest against body fascism.  That means that we revel in all shapes and sizes of body and we reject the media norm of skinny = beautiful.  Whatever shape and size you are, you should come on the WNBR to show people that YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL and that you love your body.

I'm no model - I've got a funny shaped arse, flabby arms and a saggy cat's underbelly that won't shift no matter how much cycling I do.

But I love my body.  It's got me round all sorts of audaxes and looked after me in times when I needed it to.  One or two people have even told me that they think it's alright and that they like it.

I bet Mr R is a fan of your bod, am I right?

So stop prevaricating, get yourself down to Hyde Park and come and join in.  I guarantee it'll do more for your self confidence and self image than you thought possible.  I actually lost weight after the last one because I felt so good about myself.

The funniest thing about last year was Liz's flatmate.  He was a little apprehensive of revealing his manhood to the world (odd really as I'm told he's a bit of a filthy slut...) and was anxious to point out that there are two types of fellas, "show-ers" and "growers".  Apparently, he was in the latter category.

Like Liz and I wanted to know!
