Tomato soup, roast turkey & traditional trimmings, home-made desserts. Life at Llanerchindda is good and carb rich!

Jack Monroe's ramen recipe, including the spicy dressing but not the beef stock. A good way to use up tired vegetables (carrot, red pepper, broccoli, frozen edamame beans). It was a high satisfaction to effort ratio.

Salmon, microwaved in lemon & lime juices, with herbs and fresh veg cooked in microwave.

We ate too much meat, sugar, bread1, everything at Llanerchindda and really crave for lighter foods!

Tackled the MONSTER (?~600g) sweet potato. Cut slits in skin, zapped on full 15 min, then cut up cos I are both weak and lazy.

I don't believe in 'detox' really but...

1) I average around ½ slice of bread per day but might have had about ten times that amount...

Sun out for five minutes? Better fire up the barbecue - we are British after all.

Did some thinly sliced sweet potato brushed with chilli jam, which worked rather well.

Also an old favourite of very thinly sliced aubergine formed into parcels filled with mozzarella and thyme.

Plus corn on the cob and M&S peppered burgers.

And now I’m bloody stuffed.

Tempted by the barbecue, but as we eat late, it's too chilly.

Instead monster cauliflower cheese (about the only thing it doesn't contain is monster). It empties the fridge and proves that pretty much anything is edible if there's enough cheese involved.

butternut squash works as wel, about 1cm thick slices.

I have 2 duck legs to roast tonight, one will go into a salad tomorrow, the other tonight with some roast BN squash and some griddled chicory

We had Wafflycat’s bacon and mushroom pasta: a recipe we’ve used now and again for maybe 15 years. Yum.
Are you here, Waffles?

Thanks Helly. We’re lucky to have such an archivist.

I’m not on the facebook so I’ll just send good vibrations.
We also have one of Ravenbait’s recepies  now and again.

Pan fried trout fillet (no added fats, dry fried in a frying pan with a lid), Jersey Royals, purple sprouting broccoli and English asparagus. Wonderful

Tom Kerridges turkey ragu with white cabbage "pasta" I made it properly, this time so it was thick, rich and gorgeous. Having followed a low calorie and carb diet for the last 4 months we find it the norm now. TK's recipes tend to be a bit long and involved to prepare, though!

Pingu's making root vegetable curry, but sadly he's not putting any sprouts in it cos he says there's no room.

Panned fried pollock with ratatouille and 'baby' potatoes. Was rather good - not sure I've had pollock before and I'm not sure I'd be able to distinguish it from other white fish in a blind tasting, but still good.

I will NOT cook fresh until the leftovers have gone.

Posh chicken Kiev*, pasta, tomato sauce, spring greens, leeks, and carrots. Followed by hot cross bun and lemon curd bread and butter pudding with cream.

*'Chicken breast stuffed with garlic butter in a ciabatta, herb, and lemon zest crumb'. yeah, whatever - it's a posh Kiev.

Faggots, peas and mash. The faggots came from an old fashioned butcher in a nearby town.
They were huge. One each would have done. Two was seriously greedy.

Roast ham (ok, it’s a roast-in-the-bag reformed “joint”  from Tesco, but it works for us and there is zero waste), spiced sweet potato “chips”, purple sprouting broccoli and perhaps some carrots.

Having some nice nutritious Indian curry and trying to keep it together. A long time since I've had anything other than Chinese or Mexican.

Cheese and biscuits, grapes and olives.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

Way to much chicken.
We were supposed to be entertaining dinner guests tonight.  I made a marinade of honey, Worcestershire sauce, mustard and tomato and marinated about half a tonne of legs and thighs.
Seems the meal is postponed until Friday.  Too late.  It's been marinating in the fridge for 18 hours  already.
Mrs B and I can hardly move at the moment.
There's still two legs left for my lunch tomorrow
Admission.  I'm actually not that fussed about cake.
