The Solheim Cup
« on: 13 September, 2019, 10:01:51 pm »
After the last two matches I think Europe have let it slip a bit. They had them on the rack, could have been three points ahead.

A great day though. Looking forward to tomorrow.

A troublesome day today, slow play ending with weather more suited to a rugby match.

The slow play was, to an extent, a result of the gusty wind; players set up for a shot then had to step back as gusts hit balance and composure. By the time the last holes were being played it was getting quite dark.

Looking forward to tomorrow.

Well, that didn't disappoint! Having a tournament like that come down to the last putt on the last hole of the last match - not even a film would have a script where that happened!

Or a test match... ;)

And, not only have Europe retained the cup, they have won it!

Only the second time that they have won the cup on US soil. Given it was done with only expat EU fans, even more impressive.

Indeed, especailly after the "puttgate" shenanigans, and the failure of the US to concede the following hole in compensation.

A great result! I caught bits of the first two days as Sky streamed it for free on their YouTube channel. Didn't for the last day, so I waded through the pr0n pop-up infested waters of some dodgy streaming site to watch the closing stages. There is nothing more irritating than Americans constantly shouting "U. S. A.". And there is nothing more satisfying when they shut up 'cos they lost  :P

Ryder cup next in a couple of weeks....
Those wonderful norks are never far from my thoughts, oh yeah!
