Tomorrow I shall be doing one of my day time rides if anyone fancies joining me.  I'm getting the 1001hrs train from Marks Tey and heading for Sudbury as I have always wanted to go over the Chappel Viaduct.  From Sudbury my route wends it's way back home via Specialities Tearoom in Stisted.   My average speed these days is c16mph.
Stisted Tea Room will be closed, they're in Australia. Perhaps you could go to the Greensted Green tearoom instead.

I should be out to play Wednesday evening.  For the sake of starting off location negotiations, how about old faithful The Compasses?

Compasses is fine by me, but how about the Axe & Compasses at Aythorpe Roding? [I'll have to take a very round-about route - meeting you somewhere along the way?]

Not that I'll be there, but I was not impressed by the food served there when AH and I darkened their doors a couple of weeks ago. Too arty-farty. High prices and not nearly enough of it. Of course, that may not worry the MEMWers.

I still haven't been to the Axe and Compasses, so that's a definite possibility.  About 18.5 miles (or 23.5 if we detour via North Hill).

Just to confuse issues ;) another destination mentioned recently is the Three Elms ... or, of course the Compasses at LG.

Shall we put all the names in a cycling helmet and pull one out?  :P

I'm up for the Axe and Compasses if you fancy a slightly longer ride than usual.

We could use this route or this longer one.

(I'd actually go the usual slightly different way through Little Waltham, but Google doesn't like it on account of the little bike path bit from the roundabout on Essex Regiment Way - it wouldn't quite go past the end of chief's road in that case ;)).

If you're going via the Walthams - I could meet you, maybe at the Rose and Crown, [is that it?] at Gt W.....8.15-ish, if you are starting from Witham at 7.30?

When I went past there the other day they were advertising a "husband creche"  I didn't stop in case they shoved a Farley's rusk in my mouth, put stabilisers on me bike and wouldn't let me go until my mum turned up.

Either route looks okay for me, whichever will get us to the Rose & Crown for 20:15ish to meet Tomsk  :)

Tomsk, unless you need some more reading material I'll not bring the next instalments with me tonight.

btw, I'm still Hope-less  >:(

That sign has been there a while, its Richard's idea of marketing. I'll wander over at 8.15 to see you all.

Huggy, I've read one, but will save the other until after my 'Book Club Book' next month. I can return said volume tonight if you'll have room.

Has anyone woken up Chief btw?

Just reviewing this thread I take it you were pausing for refreshment at the Rose and Crown or were you rv'ing to head onto Aythorp Roding?

Me and Simon will be there anyway, consider it a control, I'll bring a doggie stamp.

As in The Three Elms at Chignal St James? If so, that's so close it would be rude of me not to make an appearance!

Edit: Or the Viper
