What did you get???

An MSR Hubba Hubba NX in Green.

An excellent choice. I have the Hubba Hubba HP which, I think, has less mesh than the NX. It is easy to put up, has good space inside and, having 2 porches, means bags etc can be stored easily.
 brilliant. Good to hear that from someone I know!

Sounds good for tomorrow. I suspect it might be 4pm earliest before I get to London

I'm looking at the 14:47 train from Witham, gets me to the pub a little before 4pm.
Probably get the 18:32 train home.

All subject to change between now & then of course!

I'm eyeing the 12:47 or possibly 13:21 trains from Witham at the moment.

I think chief had the much more expensive version  ;D

Nice tent though, many happy sleeps in it tippers.

I just re-read the report on that trip and realise it contains the original Lowestoft reference (it's in part 2, the post below the one linked).

We need a sticky MEMWNS FAQ thread to gather links such as this :)

I can make the 14:21, see you there.  Will be buying the annual Network Railcard too if you wanna piggy back on the reduced rate with that

Last night was excellent!  If you weren't there you missed out!  Is 52 miles a record for the Witham peloton?  I'm sure Tomsk regularly goes over 50 miles but I can't remember doing it.

Anyhow ... me, huggy, Andy C333333, Oaky and bobb set off from the Spa Road roundabout. Oaky didn't moan much as we enjoyed the COR just after Great Notley Country Park and we met up with Tomsk bang on schedule. We deviated slightly from last years route to avoid a flinty lane - by this point we were simply following Tomsk's wheel.  The Great Man decided we should push on past the site of last years disaster to the Half Moon at Belchamp St Paul were a couple of pints or coffee was enjoying, we'd earned it!

Then back out to a chilly evening (3degs) for the blast home. huggy was suffering from 2 weeks of eating burgers with assorted Disney characters so Andy and I hung back for him and we lost the other three.

Thanks to everyone for a terrific evening which mercifully was less dramatic than our ride a year ago.

I note that Bobb's ride was fairly epic for a school night.   He is putting together some miles this year.  Perhaps he is looking to move on from the B peloton?  Mind you, he has got some way to go if he is hoping to gain legendary status like DL.

I went for a solo MEMWNS ride.  After assembling with myself outside my house, I freestyled a more normal midweek length of ride which involved a stop at the Layer Fox to sample a Cornish Best.  Unlike the main peloton, I stuck to OD's one pint limit. Arriving home before 10 did feel like cheating though.

Sorry I missed out last night, either at the Half Moon or the Fox.

Bobb is flying along, he was like a whippet up a drainpipe (or something similar) up the climbs on the Shark.

Sounds like a good night for all. I was pretty ill yesterday and was in bed by 20:30 although I probably would have given it a skip regardless as per my post in the other thread! Wednesday nights and the threat of high speed do very little for me

...and we lost the other three...

I thought we lost you! Thinking I had the whole peloton in tow, we took a sensible [legal] route through Braintree. Solo, I'd have carried on up from Bradford Street and scooted on the pavement through the short one-way to the Rayne Road. Bobb and I waited for a while at the Notley Road turn, after Oaky ploughed on home, then went our separate ways - 52 miles for me too.

At Belchamp St Paul we were only a few miles short of the Mighty River Stour and Forrin Territory.

Yeah, Tomsk, Oaky and bobb were all going well.  I was too but did the gentlemanly thing with Andy and hung back for Minnie Mouse  O:-) :smug:

Mind you I think Our Friend from Disney TM will be back on song soon after he's got the G&YF in his legs.  I'm pretty sure The Shark did me a power of good.

64.2 miles for me  :)

It seemed to get warmer the closer to home I got. Either that or I got warmer!

It's as well we stopped short:  I'm not sure my vaccinations are up to date.

Yes, my wheels, except they aren't ready.  Last week I was 13th on the list and expecting to collect today. Yesterday I was 7th and he was hoping for next Thursday.  The tubeless stuff arrived yesterday so all a bit tight for G&Y.

Therefore you are going to have to cut the chatter down today.   Instead of oohing and aahing over your new steed and letting your Kiwi bonhomie loose; get in, tell him it's lovely and get out
