I think it lurks in the dusty recesses of my vinyl collection.

OK - which musician appears on albums by Gary Numan and Paul Young?

I thought the title was isnpired by a strapline on the copy of Vogue that inspired the artwork?

it was; there was a copy of Vogue published before the LP which had the same word Dare on the cover

I first saw them in 1980 after the split with who became H17; all the girls did was dance at the time.

I often wonder whether getting them to sing was a good move

I think it'd be harsh to deprive Martin of the point, though Smudge asks a vital question.

Tbh, I only asked because I know they were highly regarded session musicians in the 60s before they became Chas & Dave, so they may well have played on several Labi Siffre records. But I'd be surprised if they wrote any songs for him, since he largely wrote his own material AFAIK.

I still don't have a CD of Dare; Reproduction and Travelogue (and of course Holiday 80) are however essential listening. The League had their soul ripped out after these first 2 albums and it was replaced by pure pop; not better or worse just different.

I haven't a clue.  I'm guessing it's an erstwhile member of Streetband, the Q-Tips and Tubeway Army, but I don't know a single name.  Tbh, I've racked my brains and can't think of even one song by the Q-Tips

"Toast" is the only one that comes to mind.  I don't think this guy was involved with the Q-Tips.

A pretty good one, mind you

Aye but he's known for that distinctive fretless style which I can't image old domestos face employing.

Indeed it was.  A favourite of Kenny Everett IIRC.

But Q-Tips did apparently play it live sometimes.

'Twas indeed Pino Palladino.  He played on Numan's I, Assassin album, when nobody had heard of him, but got rather more attention as a member of Paul Young's band.  He's since worked with all and sundry.  Great bassist.

I just ordered the 1995 greatest hits CD from Amazon also under a fiver; the best of Dare, some pretty good later ones I haven't got (other than on 12"); and a bonus Together in Electric Dreams  :)

Mice ?

I can think of The Mouse Police.  Can't recall much mouse-related that AAE did though.

Julianne Regan of AAE was later involved with an outfit called Mice.  I wouldn't have got the Jethro Tull link.

Thor and Pingu have got it between them.

Incidentally, All About Eve also covered a Jethro Tull song: The Witch's Promise.
