Woffage is correct - the Violent Femmes song is "Waiting For The Bus".

in response to clarion's 'take it away dolphin' query, i think it was at the start of 'right on sister' on the rising free ep. But i could be wrong,

I think you're right! :D

I've had Tom saying that in my head for ages, and I can recall the opening drum bit, but I just couldn't get any further.

Cheers :)

Robert Fripp?

Next guess would be Brian Eno.

Sorry CS, it's Crimson's other guitarist, Adrian Belew.  He played with 'Heads on 'Remin in Light', he's played with Bowie on tour and has sung for the Crim since their Discipline album.

Ah, but Smidge is right too. Fripp played with Bowie and on one of the early TH albums (I think it might also have been Remain in Light), as well as KC.  So he's still a connection - he just wasn't the one you were thinking of

Tbh, Brian Eno is probably a correct answer too - I'm sure it wouldn't be too difficult to find connections for Eno to all those three (King Crimson is the only link for which a connection doesn't readily spring to mind, in fact). There are probably other names that would also constitute a valid correct answer.

But since Woofage was thinking of Adrian Belew, I think that has to be taken as the definitive answer.

Why thankyou  :)
Could Fripp & Eno count as an Eno-Crim connection, since Fripp is the only constant member of that band?

Anyway, I suppose I'd better think of a question.  Hmmm......

I thought a few would put Eno forward as I wasn't aware of any connection between him and Bowie. But then I wasn't aware of any connection between Robert Fripp and Bowie either :-[ so sorry for the confusion. I'm happy for Mr Bunbury to continue if everyone else is.

What links Bowie, Fripp, Eno, Pop, Visconti and Belew (but not Byrne)?

Okay then, here's a question.

Richard, Clive, Keith, Roger, Sheilagh and Nick were the Screaming Abdabs.  Clive and Keith later had top 10 success with 'Summer Song', but the others had the last laugh.  How come?

Roger, Richard and Nick are Messrs. Waters, Wright and Mason and thus went on to become slightly-successful beat combo Pink Floyd.

a question please, Mr Larrington...

Sorry, I knock off at four pm...

I thought of an excellent one earlier this morning but have now forgotten it, so you'll have to make do with telling me what the following Beat Combos have in common:

  • Owl-loving oddballs British Sea Power
  • Hairy Gods of Thunder Motörhead
  • Desert Rockers par excellence Masters Of Reality
  • Post-punk growly types Killing Joke
