By the time that river gets to Phoenix, though, it's usually devoid of actual water.

Named thus by John Wesley Harding Powell for the muddiness of its waters.

Today's are across the North Fork of the Virgin River in Zion National Park.

Is that a line from a C&W song?

That one looks like it might usefully be converted to a giant trebuchet.

I know we've had Glen Canyon and Navajo bridges over the Mighty Colorado before, so I didn't bother with any pictures of them today.  Not sure whether I've done these before, and CBA to check.

Went out over the last two days with my new camera which I fear is better than I will ever be.

Some bridges.....

The disused railway bridge on a minor road near Swampits Gnosal. Above is the NCN55 cycle route between Stafford and Newport. Need to figure out how to turn the flash off.

The NCN55 route on the way uphill (its a slight drag but noticeable!) towards Gnosal. The bridge carries the A518 over the route and looks better in winter with less greenery around.

Talking about broken bridges:

2 people sadly died in the collapse, including the driver of the overweight lorry that probably caused the failure, and a 15 years old girl who was just there at the wrong moment.
