Oxo and milk!
« on: 18 December, 2008, 05:54:36 pm »

I'm sure it is "very interesting"! Just the thought of it had me gagging over my tea at elevenses this morning.

Anyone tried it (or willing to have a go)?   :demon:

Sickburn! Makes milk very interesting and then you taste it!     Now Bovril and milk is a great bedtime drink. Another favourite is Ovaltine and Bisto.

Veg Oxo be better?

It's like eating egg with chicken - just wrong. I'd still try it though. ;)

My Grandmother regularly used to drink Oxo/Bovril with Milk.  Must have been a wartime thing I guess.

Years ago my firm's social club used to serve an excellent chicken omelette!

It wasn't THAT bad... it was like a thin steak that's been fried nice and brown, covered in lots of gloopy melted cheese.  If you like that, you'll love oxo and milk.  Not intrinsically foul at all, but too rich for my palate by far!

Perhaps the quantities of each need to be adjusted. What milk type did you try full fat, semi skimmed, skimmed, or strawberry milk?  ;)

So is this an attempt  to get people to do stupid stuff?

Next is milk and orange juice.

Tried that as a kid, it's vile.  So is fizzy milk inna Sodastream.  :)

Now, can anyone point me towards a pork version of Bovril or Marmite?

Isn't OXO and milk a variant on beef tea ? Would have to be full fat milk as there didn't used to be anything but full fat.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

Oxo and milk goes against the dietary laws of the Old Testament. I expect it tastes sacriligeous. Must taste pretty good though, enough to risk damnation for.

Surely it is no different to cream/chicken soup etc? Milk is cowjuice and logical to mix with cowconcentrate. Could be improved by addition of brains and a blender though! Smoothies...mmmmm.

Have you tried brown sauce in tea? Was in the movie Intermission so it must be good.
