On last year’s Ride London 100, I followed a rather large chap for a while on one of the flatter sections. He was seriously strong, a good wheel to sit on.

Later realised it was welsh rugby bloke Colin Charvis.

Sean Kelly about 8 years ago just around the corner from where I live.  Cycling wasn't the new golf at the time, so you seldom saw other strong cyclists where I live in the West of Ireland.  However, coming the other way was a very strong looking cyclist indeed, like no other I have seen.  As he got closer, he shouted across 'Good man'.  He may not have said that if he had seen I was riding - a Lemond!!

I later discovered he was in the area doing something for a local club that morning, then obviously nipped off for a spin on his own.

She didn't.

Tony Doyle, out training around 1984. (He was training. We were touring.) We asked him if he knew where the end of the High Peak Trail was. He didn't. We found it anyway, which nearly got me divorced, but that's a different story.

Whilst on a hosteling winter weekend with the club, in  Hathersage, went into a pub in the evening, and James Nesbitt was on the next table, with other 'actor types'. Up on a film shoot for what ever he was in at the time, been about 2004 ish.
Also 'I think' we cycled past Kate Humbold?' In some woods , walking with her chap and a big dog, can't remember if it was Leith Hill area or IOW, about 6-7 years ago. She said "Hello!" , in that bubbly way, he said bugga all.
Once did some Architectural plans for Joanna Lumley, cup of tea, chat, etc.

Cycled past fucking horrid Neil Hamilton and his fucking horrid wife out on the Gloucestershire Wiltshire border. They were dressed in tweed with some other twerps desperately trying to look like country nobility.

Does meeting famous cyclists while rowing count?  Nicole Cook was racing at Nottingham regatta last month - she's quite good.

There seems to be quite a strong cycling/rowing overlap.

Big engine, ability to train for hours and to suffer like crazy during racing, happy to put up with injury and sacrifice any original thought or the chance of individual glory for the greater good of the team.

I should be in marketing for rowing.

Famous: I met Chris Boardman while marshalling for the Eroica festival last year.

Random: I volunteered at this year's Erioca and worked with a lovely woman who assured me that her husband's name is Nicholas Topliss.
What's so funny about peace, love and understanding?

I once met Pollard out of Emmerdale while cycling. As in , he was cycling, not me.

Seen rather than met.

I was cycling through Chester early one sunday when I noticed a camera crew (not that unusual round here) As I went past I saw it was Prof. Alice Roberts talking and pointing at something. Sadly when they broadcast the program a few months ago they didn't include any footage of me :(
