Carradice / Brooks bodge

Bought me a Carradice zip roll last week and needed a spacer between the seat post and the bag.

Took me a bit of timber and filed and sanded and drilled and zip tied.

Was that because you didn't like the angle of the bag when fastened to seat-post directly?

It hits your thighs if you have a forward cleat position and the saddle pushed right back.

I use a bit of black plastic waste pipe, through which I run the seatpost strap.
Hard work sometimes pays off in the end, but laziness ALWAYS pays off NOW.

As RZ says, it hits the back of my thighs, even though my cleat position is as far back as they will go and that saddle is pretty much as far forward as it will go.

As well, the seat post strap wouldn't actually reach the seat post...

I used to notice my thighs brushing my Carradice (that sounds like something from Mills & Boon) but now it doesn't bother me, I just find it awkward to access the buckles.  The SQR bracket does a perfect job but weighs an inordinate amount for what it does.  When will alloy find its way to Nelson, Lancs ?  Do they still consider it to be "The Devil's Metal' ?

The adaptor for saddles without bag loops weighs about as much as a bike.

I bought some Cyclo bag loops instead.

Thats very neat.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

That is a very neat spacer!   I must try similar as my camper longflap does tend to sit at a funny angle.
