Currently watching Top Gun 2 on Netflix.

I've managed about 20 minutes. I'm not sure I can bear much more.

Is that the one with Chocoball Mukai in?
It is simpler than it looks.

Paterson.  Lovely, especially Marvin, played by one Nellie RIP.

Not sure. Always get him confused with Chef out of Southpark

We loved it (to my surprise - although I have loved quite a lot of Cruise movies ...) On free telly.

If I may reassure you, the first 20 minutes were much like the rest of it

Full of great cheesy lines:
"I don't know how to sail ships - just land on them!"
etc ... etc

I can imagine the flying sequences were amazing on a big screen - assuming you like that sort of thing, obvs  ...

I turned it off. It was every bit as ridiculous as the first one. Jingoistic American triumphalist shite, with obligatory emotion-wanking at appropriate points.

Plus the flying scenes were pure nonsense.

The only way a Top Gun sequel was going to be any good would be if they fully embraced the homoerotica, and Goose was played by an actual goose.

The only Goose, beware of cheap imitations:

Anyway, last night we watched Le Grand Bleu, mostly notable for Jean Reno, and while he was bloody good, the rest of it varied between half stupid and dead boring.

Land of Bad  2024
Wasn't expecting much, but it's a decently effective 'Special Ops' flick.  Russell Crowe & Liam Hemswth, both pretty good.

The Madness of King George, which was as delightful as it was when we saw it 25 years ago.

Tho' apparently a lot of actual flying involved, with cast in the 'tandem' fighters themselves.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMbBh2CxUOw

I just thought 'I know what kind of film I'm gonna get, set irritation/disbelief filters to off & enjoy' - which I did...   ;D

I saw six blue movies last night.

Or more accurately, I went to a screening of the Banff Mountain Film Festival. There are two programmes, the Red and the Blue. We saw the Blue.

Adventury type documentaries about climbing, skiing, caving, BASE jumping and paragliding.  Heart in mouth stuff as two people jumped off Trango Tower, Pakistan. Slight annoyance at the people who sailed to Greenland so they could go skiing down some mountains. I also failed to win anything in the prize draw.
