GN.  I got a text to say I'd won a prize in the flood relief  raffle.
Even better news. I had to go to the pub to find out what it was.
BN.  It wasn't the top prize.-Two tickets for any Ospreys game.
GN.  It wasn't the two tickets for any Swansea City match.

It was a £10 voucher for the Chinese.
GN.  That's dinner sorted one day next week.
Admission.  I'm actually not that fussed about cake.

Good news - of a sort - I'm getting a strange shadowing on one of my 14 year old Eizo flat monitors, that means I should be able to justify changing for something New! Shiny! 2 x 19" seemed like a lot at the time, it doesn't any more.

I'd better just check pushing the connector fully in though, hadn't I?

Oh.

BN - we have a gas leak in the supply to the boiler
GN - SGN were out within half an hour to look at it
BN - It’s a pinhole leak in the side at a bend, and too time consuming for the engineer to be allowed to fix, which would have been FOC so supply has been isolated
GN - we have immersion heater, fan heaters, electric cooker and an open fire
BN - our plumber doesn’t work weekends any more.
GN - I first smelt gas Thursday evening, but we have none inside so dismissed it as the Eucalyptus leaves in a bouquet my wife had - thankfully no mishaps!!!  Helped by the supply pipe being external to the house albeit the leak was close to the boiler cupboard. Could have been a LOT worse   :o

BN: The Proclaimers gig at Edinburgh Castle on 20/7/19 was sold out by the time I remembered to check. 20,000 tickets in 55 minutes.

GN: They announced another gig the day after and I bagged a brace.

BN: The abscess I had on a tooth has returned, despite root canal work.

GN: I phoned the dentist at 9am, and had an appointment and 9:30 - luckily I work only 20 minutes walk away.

MGN: Nothing major, despite waking up looking like I'd taken a left hook to the jaw, 5 day course of antibiotics prescribed

BN: They are of a type (Metronidazole / Flagyl) that you shouldn't consume alcohol with, because nausea, vomiting, palpitations, hot flushes etc., plus for 48 hours after finishing  :( (apparently it has an "antabuse-like effect")

GN: Last time I had them I only left it 24 hrs and was fine, so hopefully can start celebrations Christmas Eve eve.

GN: I’ve finished the antibiotics and, fingers crossed, they seem to have done the trick.

BN: I miscalculated the dates. My 7 days of enforced sobriety extends to Christmas Day lunchtime.

GN: Probably as a result of the BN my blood pressure registered as 120/76. I’ll take that.

GN - scraping re-booked

BN - filling needed, choice of small amalgam, or larger porcelain joining the filling already in that tooth.

GN - porcelain would be permanent, amalgam would need replacing sometime (although I've had other amalgam fillings for over 15 years)

BN - porcelain ££££

BN - I suddenly realised that I needed some Euros.  So the nearest place is ASDA (sometimes better than average rates). Then I noticed that I could  not pick up my money until 3pm Friday. I would have already started my journey.

GN - I changed to MoneyCorp at Bristol Airport. The exchange rate was better.

GN: I've finished most of the ironing backlog & now have pressed shirts & trousers for the next few weeks.
BN: most... not all ......

GN: The grilled lamb chops were delicious.
BN: It was probably a bad idea to coat them with shredded, dried chillies & then cook them in the grill pan , on a cold , wet, windy night.   I had to open the windows, and this was not a good thing.

BN: My The North Face snow boots have got a massive crack across the plastic bit across the toes.

GN: That's another project for that bumper pack of Sugru I bought last week (see thread in OT knowledge)

BN: My home broadband is playing up again , downloads speed is less than 7M, it was over 50M the last time I had them out to look at it.
GN: I can now get the latest shiny ultrafast fibre to the premises,  and as I work for the relevant telco it's free!  That only leaves wrestling with the "staff benefits" order page to deal with.

BN: Well I've just realised that tomorrow's 9am hospital appointment is in Hastings rather than Eastbourne as I'd thought. So that's half an hour on a school kid packed train (standing room only) and then either a rush hour taxi or a 2.5 mile walk rather than a simple twenty mnute walk from home. And it's meant to snow overnight.

BN: The hospital appointment is because I've had gut issues since November. November 2017. And I'll be on a train in which you can't move let alone get to the toilet.

GN: At least I realised now rather than at half eight tomorrow morning.

I'm irked though. Both at myself for not checking and at the consultant who assured me it would be in Eastbourne when I asked where it would be as transport could be aproblem.

Annoyingly I have a friend who lives in Hastings and if I'd realised sooner I could just have slept at her place. That's what I'm doing for part two of the test next Friday anyway.

It doesn't help that my gut issues are worse in the morning and exacerbated by stress.

I want it to snow enough that I can just not make it and rearrange. After all I'm not seeing the consultant for the results till April despite the test itself being quite quick.

What I expect to happen is it to snow enough to be aright pain in the arse but not actually prevent travel. Or I'll get to Hastings but not be able to get home.

Bah. Fed up.

I had a hopsital appointment a month or so back when we had sno before.
I cycled in along the North Deeside Road, past stationary traffic.
I was 15 minutes late.

There were lots of people with the same appointment time at the clinic, but I was the only one there.
Everyone else was stuck in traffic, it seems.

The doc was in, and i got seen straight away!

GN: We're going to Llanerchindda Farm, near Llandovery, by train, for the weekend of 3-6 May.
BN: I was unable to penetrate the log-in to buy tickets via GWR. They charge an extra £1 for postal ticket delivery.
GN: I was able to buy tickets via Transport for Wales. They do not charge extra for postal ticket delivery.
More GN: Tickets arrived this morn in bilingual wallet.

TfW are quite good at the moment as they are still trying hard.  They are new and eager to please, having recently taken over the contract from ArrivaTrainsWalesAreSorryToAnnouceThat.....
Mind you, they haven't got round to re-branding much of the rolling stock yet, so you may not notice. (Other than possibly being more or less on time)
