Why a security researcher would use a domestic router on anything other than a honey pot, one can but wonder. I would expect this thing to become increasingly common as routers look more and more attractive to crackers.

Vague reporting by Aunty Beeb on the models affected, but no doubt this is useful as a reminder to check your router's firmware is up to date. Or maybe consider a firewall running on a hardened OS that's less of a target.

Plus make sure any sort of remote access is disabled.

And use a strong enough password. I'm sure there's lots of routers around with a password of "admin".
