Morphy normally loves a late evening walk in the park, and since it's been so hot today, about 9.40, off we went.
We were about 200 yards into the park and he was being less enthusiastic than normal: at dusk he's normally off chasing anything and everything, and we dont seehim for some time, but can often hear him charging about.
Then, more than a mile away, someone let off some fireworks. He was off. I lost sight of him amongst the trees and retraced my steps to the gate, but there was no sign of him. I suspected he'd gone home, but didn't have my phone so I waited by the park entrance until someone came by. It was a youth, phone in ear, and he kindly lent me his phone.
The dog had already arrived home.
I'm going to take him out again now and not let him off the lead.
