One year cycling record Twitter feed

Tweets when Steve's setting off each morning, when he's finished, and when Strava has been uploaded, giving the daily and cumulative distance and a comparison to Tommy's cumulative distance at the same stage.  It existed before this year's attempt and tweeted daily Tommy's distance from the same day in 1939.

Excellent. I'd not noticed they'd started posting Steve's as well as Tommy's.

I run the @yearrecord twitter account.

I have the mileages of every single rider since 1911 and have been thinking about adding them all to the feed. If there is interest in this I'll pull my finger out and get it done.

Thanks for doing it citizenfish.  I've appreciated the distance illustrations for Tommy's rides.

I notice that since the server crash, Steve's daily starts/finishes have disappeared. :(

It's a perl library problem. I'll fix it when I'm back from this LEJOG

A very useful post, thanks Graham:

As of yesterday (or rather, early this morning), Steve has ridden 60,600.8 miles and has 71 days to go.

He now needs 203.7 miles/day to beat Tommy and 218 miles/day to beat Kurt. The last six days he's done 199.6 miles/day and been fairly consistent day-to-day.

Steve's pace for the *first* 71 days of this attempt was 221.9 miles/day. So the Kurt record isn't *quite* out of reach but an increasingly large surge in daily mileage is required to reach it.

I'm using the UMCA spreadsheet numbers (updated Dec 12) then the distances from Strava for recent rides.

(Anyway, Merry Xmas Steve. I hope you're proud of this attempt however it works out)
