At best it's due care. More like attempted murder.

Well that's the more blunt way of putting it but as usual he's dead right.

Easy case for assault. You don't have to hit anyone for assault either. Assault with a deadly weapon, actual bodily harm? The hard part will be getting  positive evidence for the driver/car being the one involved.

Thank God everyone is going to be okay - that's horrendous behaviour. I hope young Lewis bounces back quickly and without trauma. I'll include Edinburgh RC in my prayers today.

You think he took due care? That seems like a  generous analysis!

Bugger deserves everything he gets. Hope they catch him, but proving it was him will be difficult. Can't imagine there'll be that many CCTV cameras in the area.

Nasty.  Hope they find the driver.

Bloody hell.  Thank goodness it wasn't worse!  Hopefully Lewis isn't too shaken up and will be back on the bike soon.

Sad to hear this happened.

Square root of sod all will happen.  Cyclists don't matter.

Remember that car user will have done this before and again.

OK. I've obviously fallen foul of bloody pedants' corner.

To expand the comment:

'At best the offence is driving without due care and attention'.

Happy now?

Wasn't meant as pedantry - just a gentle joke, based on some ambiguous wording.

(and at the same time agreeing with your intended meaning :) )
