Table booked for 2030hrs on Wednesday for between 6 and 9 people.  If you get there first the table is booked in the name of "Rowley" cos that's what I'm called in real life.

Forward planning - lovin' it  ;D

I won't be there. You can have too much of a good thing and I will be enjoying the pleasure of all of your esteemed companies in a little over 3 weeks. Besides, I have a rheumatology appointment at 8.30 on Thursday morning so I don't really want to crawl into bed at about 3 a.m. I'll go for a daytime ride on Thurs instead.

1930hrs at the Spa Road roundabout (where you met us last time).  I have a little route which involves an ascent of TMNH and thence to us tea.  The route back to Witham (after us tea) involves the (metalled) farm track interlude that Huggy and I enjoyed on our last trip to The Windmill.  Hopefully Huggy won't fall of this time  ;D

Do we have to do the misdirection bit where I fell off saying goodbye to Tomsk or can we skip that and just go straight to the direct route farm track and hence I stand a chance of not falling off?

I blame Tomsk for all hardness testing of tarmac with my elbows anyway

Thankyou everyone for a pleasurable evening. We consumed Wibbler's Dengie Devil (), cordials and coffee. I thought the meal was okay. My sausages looked much nicer than the Hunter's Chicken.

Some good plans were hatched for future adventures and we all agreed that forward planning can work however we saw ourselves as more spontaneous two wheeled knights of the road.

It was foggy out there evidenced by the fact that whatisisface and I passed Tomsk going the other way earlier in the evening but couldn't tell it was him.

Bobbs Dolan looked very nice on the road, a good fit.

I thought it was a very pleasant evening as well.  And, I might add, a triumph of forward planning!   :P  My hope was that the addition of a cheap and cheerful meal into the MEMWNS format would result in a bigger turnout.  Eight riders would suggest the experiment was a success.  And here are those eight riders in all their glory:

The Windmill did us proud.  Although the food was hardly haute cuisine it was perfectly adequate and relatively good value for money (well I thought so).  To top it off, we received the friendliest of welcomes.  And now yet more forward planning …!

The second Wednesday in December is the 12th, i.e. just a few days after the Christmas Do.  Therefore, I wondered whether we should schedule the next Flagship MEMWNS Ride for the second Wednesday in January, that being the 8th.  What do we all think?  I have received a request to hold the next event a bit further south so the good folk of Sarfend-on-Sea and environs don’t feel quite so left out.  Again, what do we think of this idea and are there any suggestions for a venue?

Gentlefolk of mid-Essex,

I have, confusingly, found myself arriving on the correct side of the North Sea today rather than as usual at the end of the week.

Despite my body clock telling me that means it must be Friday, and therefore time for a beer or three, I still have enough of my wits about me to know that it is still only Tuesday and therefore that would be a tad premature.

It does, however, mean that tomorrow is Wednesday, which I do believe is Mid-week.

Does anybody fancy throwing over this advance planning mularkey for a good old-fashioned lastminute.com Nocturnal trip to an ale-house hereabouts?

I'm a possible. I won't know until I get into the office tomorrow. I was supposed to go out with a couple of colleagues but they might cry off.

As much as I'd love to catch up I think I'm working late tomorrow night, I'll see how the day goes.

Do you have anywhere in mind?

The forecast looks OK (tailwind on the way home) so I could easily get a train to somewhere around 7 p.m., arriving 8ish and then cycle home, via your pub and a few ales.

This too will be a last minute decision but I'd like to know where I'm heading.

This I could do! Any preference? Or the MEMWNS default venue? South of Witham, rather than west, would suit Wowbagger - like the Cricketers at Danbury Common....Decisions....

Sorry, chaps: I've made other plans now involving an early start tomorrow, so don't include my interests in your choice of venue.

Okey-dokey...

Tomsk - I had an SMS from chief who might be interested if we are closer to him (he is looking not to have too late a night of it)... shall we relocate somewhere N of the A12?

ETA: Compasses or Square and Compasses are chief's preferred venues.

I will probably be setting off here at 7:40 ish.

Anyone have any strong preference between the Compasses or Square and Compasses?
chief had them in the above order in his preference list ... I haven't been to either recently.
