BN: AO.com are delivering my fridge/freezer at 7am
BN/GN: They arrived at 6.45, so I let them in rather than sit around bothering the neighbours in their noisy van
BN: There's a barely perceptible dent in the fridge door
GN: AO offer me 80 quid. I bite their hand off, though I could probably have got more

Kona have had a thing for naming some of their bikes on a volcanic theme - Cinder Cone, Lava Dome, Fire Mountain, Kilauea...
I have a 1998 Lava Dome.

It hasn't done any proper off road recently, but with semi-slicks it's handy for pothole filled country lanes & the like.

I wish, but no. And in fact I shan't programme it at all, I'll just use it as a dumb stat like it's predecessor and let the controller do it's thing. The stat just allows the temperature during the day to be varied automatically, but my wife doesn't do "cooler during the day" temperatures!

BN: He's got emails dating back to 2014, when the original service was installed, & guess who set it up & tested it with him then ?   I've been doing this for too long!

You should take 4 days of sickies and turn your mobile off to make up for calls on your holidays, that is BAD management to have people doing that!

GN: My eyes are healthy
BN: …for my age

Had a long overdue eye test, partly because it really is time I replaced my reading glasses - current ones are falling apart and scratched, also not powerful enough any more.

Also partly because I’ve been seeing spots in my vision, which is a little concerning. But apparently - and I’m sure you all know this already - this is a normal part of age related physical degeneration of the jelly in your eyes, which leaves “floaters”.

Had the 3D scan thing for the first time - fascinating yet slightly weird to see what the inside of my eyes look like.

Don't knock it, I had an MRI scan and the comment was basically 'brain looks alright for someone of his age.' I wanted the brain of a 20-year-old. And not pickled and in a jar, like the ones I already have.

I was due to be on leave from 10 September for a week... but forgot to book it .  In the meantime my line manager and my boss both booked time off.  I can't have time off as well at the same time.

GN: Boss is trying to ensure we can carry over the extra as long as they're used by the end of the year.

Bad
I missed an important meeting last night, because the invite was sent after I had left work.

Good
Leaving work early meant I was able to meet up with friends and go kayaking.
