Turning attention to Wednesday, the temporary absence of acorns means that mrs_o will be up for the MEMWNS outing too.

I realise this is forward planning, but mention it in case anyone else wanted to work on getting their WAGs out. :)

Ooh, I am a very-vaguely-possible on this, depending on various things (like the effort of sticking trike in car, work etc).

I am on the wrong side of the pond to get out on Wednesday and Mrs H is still suffering from her lastest episode of accident prowess  :'(

We will be horribly jet lagged  :hand:

But I am reliably informed that myself and my WAG will be cycling to The Compasses beer fest on Saturday   With the Oakies by all accounts. Smashing!

Lunchtime. I will wear my new cycling jersey or the first time. That'll put you off the beer!

For Wednesday, I'm thinking about the Wagon and Horses at Braintree.

I'm just working out if I can persuade mrs_o to take the "scenic" route (via The Mighty North Hill) or not :)

Tonight:  Wagon and Horses
Friday night (tentatively): Compasses BF
Saturday lunchtime: Compasses BF

Three ales on tonight, Brakspear Bitter, Adnam's Ghost Ship and Adnam's Southwold Bitter.

We've been there a few time for their (monthly) Sunday night quiz evening.  It's a very pleasant pub.  The bulk of the area is normally turned over to their restaurant (menu looks good, but never eaten there) so there's not a huge number of tables for drinking customers (although there's a fair bit of seating outside for nice days).  The restaurant end does get turned back into pub on their quiz nights, though.

Well a lovely afternoon with friends everywhere I looked at The Compasses beer festival. I locked my bike up to find the Witham lot set up nicely with the WAGS in tow and a celebrity visitor. Mrs B was also there having been out with the Compasses ride. It wasn't the same without Chief though, we took a photo to make him homesick.

Tom and Jake turned up and I worriedly asked him about rumours of extra bits on the Flatlands 600.
My kids won three bottles of booze on the tombola, one of which was a bottle sherry; regular readers will know that OD is rather partial to old ladies drinks. He bought the bottle from my boy for a fiver, everybody was happy.
Del spies the sherry.

The sherry rampantly sticking out of ODs bag. I thought the Jeckyll Oakleys set off the sweat band and mouldy man towel very well.

I like that picture of me. I'll trade you an autograph for the lad, Evan(?), and the picture for me.  ;) Or had my fame degenerated into "some bloke I have met off the internet?"

I missed the raffle having arrived early and had just got my beer and was going for the food when OD, Oaky, Huggy, and their better halves, wifes not beer, turned up. The beer was good as was the burger.
The tractors weren't very old! The ploughed furrows were not too straight either, probably too much to expect at a beer fest!

Anyway a cracking ride with a little rain and an obnoxious wank panza pilot who objected to me riding on the road.

It was an excellent day topped off nicely by purchasing the sherry from Master bloomers.  The lad has a future, he tried selling the Tesco Value wine to Mrs Huggy saying it might cheer her up.  He was also heard offering his sister to random strangers for a fiver as well!

No hangover this morning which as surprising as it was welcome.

From that picture it looks like OD has just returned from holiday with the Hillbillies.

Well spotted.  I was wearing one of my new epic cycling jerseys.  I have never seen such a dreadful item of clothing - suffice to say I purchased it immediately!

Nah, can't make it. A bit gutting really, I haven't been out for ages. Though the 'help'desk have stopped breaking things, so shouldn't be too bad now.

Another pub, rescued by the locals, that might be worth a visit at some point.
