I'm up for a pre-arrow leg spin too.  No suggestion as to where yet but I'm sure it'll include going over TMNH to get there.

This week's destination refreshment stop suggestions for consideration of the committee in no particular order:
King William IV, Notley Green
Square & Compasses, Fuller Street
St. Anne's Castle, Great Leighs
The Windmill Motor Inn, Chatham Green
Somewhere else of someone else's desire

Depending upon riders of Withamite persuasion joining the likely departure time will be between 7:30 and 7:45 with view to reaching destination refreshment stop 9:15-ish after 25 miles-ish.  Route TBD (but not including Hagg Hill as that seems to involve walking by some).

I am up North this week so won't be joining.  I will be riding up a hill or two whilst I am here though.

I am currently sat in a Premier Inn near Newbury - I know, I know rock 'n' roll lifestyle etc.  I should have brought a bike but I have some work to do this evening  :hand:

Have fun.

My plan is to follow something like this http://bikeroutetoaster.com/BRTWebUI/Course/651702 [Edited at midday, but not to pander to OD in later comment]
Departure time about 7:30 with a leisurely ride for 9pm arrival at The Windmill, Chatham Green.
Not intending to have a Thursday return home to save the sleep depravation for the Arrow on Friday/Saturday.

It would appear you are missing the opportunity to fall off, pick yourself up, ride on that farm track across the fields and then say hello to the beetles on sticks.  Dear me!

a little bit higher than TMNH

A bit windier too (50mph at the summit with gusts to 65/70)

No pub on the route though :-/

Is that the Great Dun Fell route we have talked about?  If so I take it you went up on fixed.

That is indeed GDF, just the ascent, rather than my yet to be finalised 200 route.

I took gears to this party.  Plenty of gears.  Plenty of low gears, especially! (26x34 bottom).

Nope, not this week.  Have an office trip to the Indian Ocean (the one in Newland Street) for carb replenishing and loading for the G&YF.

Wednesday is ok for me.

Is the Three Horseshoes at Duton Hill on your GBG list OD? We went for a walk today and ended up there for a pre-lunch drink. It's as excellent as I remember from my last visit, a few years ago. [And I grew up at Duton Hill - though too young to be a pub-goer when we moved away] Mighty Oak 'Captain Bob' and Bishop Nick 'Hop Cross' on offer, plus another I forget which.....

I'm not sure it is in the Shit Pub Good Beer Guide but I still think it's a good idea. We should do more rides over your way.  I commend it to the house.

Shit Pub Good Beer

Well its a good pub too - hilarious landlord [Jake liked him ie puerile sense of humour, possibly put on for his benefit] and eccentric regulars and their dogs, pub stuffed full of beer-related antiques.

Quite a trek home to Witham though......

The Three Horseshoes is indeed in the GBG so gets my vote

Following this route its a 20 mile jaunt from Witham so not too bad.  I might not stay until closing as I have a busy day on Thursday.

Are any other cyclists of Witham interested?  I would be able to leave Witham at about 7:30pm
