I don't think I'll make tonight. The lurgy that appears to be going around that I thought I'd dodged appears to be hitting me now  :(

I think I'm going to pack up and go home...

Still, good that it happens now and not whilst I'm on holiday in a weekish time!

One point to note, last time I was at the Sun (it was a couple of years ago at least) it was Cash only. Something about it being a proper pub etc. Not sure it is still the case but just to let you know it might be.

Will grab some cash on the way round... worst case there's a cashpoint on the high street in Kelvedon/Feering (co-op?).

I have a feeling we lost someone (huggy?) there on our way to the Chappel Beer Fest when he discovered a puncture after trainmanbri and I had already set off at pace.    On that occasion, we gave up waiting after a while on the assumption that huggy was following OD up a different road owing to OD's PATENTED NAVIGATIONAL METHODOLOGYTM

BTW - I may be a few minutes later than planned setting off, so if I'm not waiting at Peg Millar's at 7:35 or whenever you get there, go on without me and i'll try to play catchup.

Did you chaps come across the Strava labs flyby feature?

e.g. for last night, if I put my reference in, it comes up with this: http://labs.strava.com/flyby/viewer/#238288828

select the riders and press the play button.

I think someone put that out after the flatlands but that ride was just too long to bother following. I like that it's good to see. Interesting just how close behind us you actually were as we were going through the Notleys and over to Stisted.

Good ride last night, loved the headwind every time we turned into it.

That is an interesting feature that I haven't seen before on Strava, as Tippers said it is interesting to see just how close to us you were Oaky before we met up.

A great first MEMWNS of the year with a nice couple of pints of Whitstable Bay at The Sun after battling the headwinds......

I found the rides home via different routes interesting: The A12 cycle path contingent and DL were quite close when the paths crossed again at Rivenhall.

That was pretty close especially after zooming in, it was also interesting to see that it looks as though I finished ahead of Steve, Andy & Grant after entering Witham!

It's also quite neat to see the bit where you dashed off up the hill after Chappel.

I hadn't noticed that bit initially as I wasn't zoomed in enough at that stage, having now done so it does make interesting viewing as does the point where we dropped OD and Huggy as we neared Feering.

I think I mentioned this on Saturday but Wingnut of the Flying Helmets has requested a meet up at The Compasses this Wednesday evening to discuss the PBP.  It's unlikely I shall be out so I will leave with others to organise or decline, I'll ask him to keep an eye on this thread.

Just heard from Wingnut: says yay to Weds at the Compasses [they can't keep us away]: 9pm ok?

PBP will indeed be the sole topic of conversation, those bored by that had better get used to it or stay away!  :demon:  It's a long time until the itch is satisfied in August, and PBP 'Anciens' are then allowed to go on about it until Christmas!...when with any luck the official DVD comes and you get to have one last bore-fest  ;D

I will be out on Weds and The Compasses suits me, I will put a route together for those riding from Witham. Despite not partaking in the PBP I do find all the chat rather interesting and I seem to be edging ever nearer the audaxing route......  :o

I'm keen to come along, not overly sure if I can make Witham in good time but I'll likely aim for a direct(ish) route to the compasses anyway, keep something for the Willy Warmer on Saturday.

Here is the route I have plotted for Weds night: http://bikeroutetoaster.com/BRTWebUI/Course/753988 you will note an ascent of TMNH is included.

Tippers not sure if there is any point you could hook up with us if you can't make the start at Spa Road roundabout?

Yep, sounds good. Likely I won't see you before the compasses, if I do get out. We have a Town hall at work so not sure how long that will last and/or how bad my mood will be after it

To avoid anyone waiting around for me this evening I'm unlikely to be out, have fun without the camera watching your every pedal stroke  :P

Do we have any other riders from Witham this evening or is it likely to be me on my lonesome?  :'(

I think I'm pretty unlikely now. I'm on holiday from Friday, so need to make sure I get all the loose ends tied up!

Bearing in mind I'm just about to leave Liverpool Street onna train and am slightly pissed (just a bit you understand) I'm pretty sure I won't be on me bike tonight!  Shame really as the weather doesn't look as bad as forecast.

Not required as I'm full with Yo! Sushi. Free it was as someone else's expenses paid for it!

A smaller and quieter MEMWNS last night with myself and Andy C33 battling some rain/sleet and a headwind up TMNH to reach The Compasses to meet Tomsk and I think Wingnut (apologies in advance if I have got the username wrong i'm still getting used to them all no offence intended!).

I sampled the Darwins which was pretty good and then to top it off I had a pint of the Oaksleaf which I have to say was delicious, a slight chocolately taste to this one.
Enjoyable chat centred around PBP and Tomsk's SR's and the tales that go with, a bit of envy admiring Tomsk's lovely PBP past medals......
