Could this be evidence that the longstanding and unholy alliance between the Scots and the French is still alive and kicking?

Ah the Auld Alliance

Why do you think I went for the Saltire/Essex combo on my numberplate.

OK, I must have missed that.  We can follow yours

Sounds good and you didn't miss it as I hadn't published it on here until this morning  ;D might only be the two of us tomorrow unless Sister Carol's brother is joining us with Ian!? Maybe Sir Squirrel aka Gavin....

I'll let mine host Tracey know to expect a diminished group of revellers tomorrow. If you intend to eat, the kitchen close at 9:30pm. A couple of the roads you've selected near Henny are a bit dodgy on 23s - lots of mud and gravel, and a couple of fords when it's rather wetter than now! There's a couple of 10-12% climbs in there too!

Thanks for the warnings Tim, I'm sure Fred will cope well. Not so sure about Dogger's soot bike!

Given we have a reasonable distance to cover could we set off at 7pm?

A 7pm start is too tight for me with getting back from that London OD, happy to try and catch you up if you wish to set off earlier however!?

I might well do that so I can proceed at a gentlemanly pace. Fred isn't a speed machine as we know and my legs are a bit shit at the moment. I will follow your route; I quite like the idea of being the rabbit to your greyhound  ;D

If I do set off at 1900 hrs I will text you.

So ladies and gents, what you like to be tomorrow night, a rabbit or a greyhound?  No need to dress up.

 I will most likely be on the winter steed tomorrow night (with hopefully now non rattling mudguards!!!) so will try my damndest to catch you up before the Henney with your 30 min lead  ;D

It's not possible for you to ride a bike that doesn't rattle!  Even the Bumble Bee is far from stealthy!

I'm a definite non starter at any departure time.  Work commitment and additional pre-PBP faffage & packing time taking priority

Pah!  You've pulled this "packing" stunt before. Didn't you dip out of a Christmas Do coz you were packing prior to a trip to New York???

That was the Outlaws' 50th wedding anniversary meal before heading off to NY for business.  Out of the 3 options I would have preferred to have been at the Christmas Do, although I will of course deny having typed that if TCMH ever reads or has this text read to her!

No idea whether anyone else is intending to depart from Spa Rd this evening but don't wait for me if i'm not there at 7.30pm as I may be delayed and will try and catch up!

Ha!  It's going to be a fun evening. I recently discovered how that Strava Fly-by thing works.  Tomorrow morning the world will be able to watch me gently pootling along and you ripping your guts out trying to catch me up  ;D

Or should I put the hammer down and give you a real challenge  :demon:

I may track your route in reverse and attempt to meet you, ooh, about 200m south of Henny. I will then outsprint you back to the pub with excessive victory celebrations. :smug:

Enjoy yourselves, ride on the right, and remember no one from Essex has failed to finish!  :-*

No pressure then.  ;)

I was hoping to come out tonight, but the sudden realisation that I haven't done anything re PBP packing and preparation has left me frantically digging out clothing and printing out a rain forest of paper work!
Those wonderful norks are never far from my thoughts, oh yeah!
