You seem to have missed out Sheepcotes 'Lane' between Leighs Road and Church Hill, Lt Waltham ;)

I've tried that before and you get stuck in the farm yard unless you want to walk through the fields.... the sat view is a bit of a lie in respect of a path! :)

[Makes a mental note to check out Sheepcote Lane some time.  Sounds like fun!]

Bum.  The OS seems to indicate Sheepcote Lane is designated as a footpath not a bridleway.

It's looking relatively promising that I might be able to get home change bikes and get back to Witham  tonight. Don't hang about for me though I shall meet you all at the Compasses King Billy if I am not at Spa Road.

I may not be so lucky - something just broke at work which means I may be troubleshooting this evening  >:(

We could always come round and kidnap you.  Gotta be a legitimate excuse.

In the absense of a report from the usual sources here's my abridged version...

Carlos needs to invest in decent tyres. Good job some us are properly equipped and could get him out of the mess he found himself in.

That Squirrel bloke needs to buy decent lights. Riding around unlit and relying on others isn't on. On chilly nights gloves are a good idea too. Good job tippers had a spare pair.

DL discovered he can't bunny hop logs. How we laughed.

The Flitch Way was excellent and I've bought a lot of it home stuck to Fred.  Nice route huggy.

The King Billy was good to although one of my pints smelt funny. Fortunately no ill effects this morning.

Have I missed anything?

A most excellent night, though for the first 11 miles I was feeling quite  due to a deceivingly large bowl of spag bog I had an hour before setting off.... however, by the time I was rolling in to Felsted it was getting better.  FW was fun, though I was just biding my time before one of the swamps we rode through would reach up and pull me down in to it.

What a clear night too!

Oh - and Yes, please put me down for the velodrome action in Jan :)

Joergen

CTC membership as proof of insurance?
I'm hoping that CTC or BC membership should be sufficient for personal insurance purpose and will be required if you do not already have it, also bring proof of membership along on the day for inspection if asked for.  Affiliated membership with the CTC through Witham Cycling is only £16/year for 3rd party cover, details here, WC CTC affiliation number is 90063203.  This was the declaration I made at the time of applying for the club session and we have been given one so one could assume that to be correct.
Everyone will also need to be a signed up member of Witham Cycling which is just a matter of signing a form and handing to OD.  We'll probably also require participants to sign on to a WC organised event, again just a signature on a led ride form.

There maybe some T&Cs attached to the velodrome gig as we have to prove we are insured.  Me and one of our group's Responsible Adults (on this occasion huggy - Tomsk is the other one) are looking into the matter.
Only 7 pages of them!
There is a tiny clause about '...any applicable Damage Deposit...' which I'm not sure if that will apply to our booking or not, it doesn't state how much that is either.

ETA:
Okay, lots of expressions of interest so far
Due to limits of participants to coach ratio we can have up to 15 riders as I understand it, WAGs and other family & friends are welcome in the seats (not the track centre).
May I suggest that if you are interested you please email me at {grant at huggys dot co dot uk} with the subject line of WC Velodrome Jan2016 so I can compile a list and keep track before offering any (unlikely) spare places to the wider WC membership.  I'm sure this complies with Lee Valley's requirement to not advertise the event on a public social forum  ::-)
If you didn't see up thread, there should be a maximum financial commitment of £30 each for the Velodrome bit (travel costs and refreshments extra), accurate cost for the evening to be confirmed depending upon your equipment hire and how much a coach actually is.  Given the cost is £35 for an individual booking a taster session I anticipate us paying somewhat less than that.
I'm not sure which of the MExxxx threads this fits in any longer so I'll just keep it here for the time being, until it may generate a thread of its own.
Some good news back from John Scripps the VeloClub Bookings man

Thanks for your query on insurance cover. I understand that the CTC cover for public liability is set at £10million, as is the British Cycling cover, so this is adequate for our requirements. It is great practice that you expect all riders to sign on. We have a sign on sheet that you can use. Please can we have a copy so we can collate statistics for data capture for our Sport England funding agreement?

You can indeed have a 2nd coach for the booking at a cost of £50 per hour per coach. Please advise as soon as you possibly can if you’d like us to book one in.

Kind Regards,
John Scripps
So, doing the maths if we have more than 15 people interested then we would like to have at least 20 to keep the individual cost at £26 or less including bike & shoe hire.  If you have your own suitable Look cleated shoes that would save you £6 hire fee.
Given the possibility of a 2nd coach I feel that I can extend the invitation beyond the regular MEMWNS riders without running out of spaces for everyone here that is interested.  Get those emails to me expressing your interest if not already done so I can start doing my officious admin.
Requests for deposits or full payment will no doubt be coming soon so don't spend all your beer tokens in the upcoming seasonal festivities  :D

 ??? ??? ??? ???

I'm confused, I don't know which thread or if I need to start a new thread to talk about who/how/when in relation to *FREE* beer tasting, Mighty Oak edition.....

Also... The Woolpack Chelmsford, Xmas Beer Festival Wednesday 2nd—Saturday 5th December 2015...

Oh and I could do with getting 100km in this weekend!

I know, it's confusing - blame the splitters  ;D

The Mighty Oak thing is already being discussed on the breakfast thread - do try to keep up at the back!!!

The Chelmo Woolie on Wednesday evening is a top idea. I was thinking it might be your turn to host.

That's a spiffing idea, but my train doesn't get in to Chelmo till sometime after 20:30 on the trail back from Birmingham, so I could maybe meet you guys in there on the way home...?
