Ok  - I'll meet the peloton at Rayne crossroads.

[Huggy, if you are out on Wednesday I can bring the G&Y brevet cards - otherwise next week, or will post...Start sheet will follow when entries close]

My work diary says I'm at Olympia (the place in London not Greece) all day on Wednesday so I hope I can get back for 7:30.  If not set off without me and I will catch you up.  Last time we just followed Tomsk, so I'm assuming he'll take us on a similar mad dash, here's last year's ROUTE which saw us taking refuge in The Three Bottles, Great Yeldham.

I think you're referring to this ride which didn't quite reach the intended destination due to documented mechanicals. I notice temperature of 20oC and average rolling speed of 25kph+, both are unlikely this week, at least the pace is for me

I'm wondering of it'll be warm enough to break out the SPD sandals - with socks of course.

Not sure if we'll make Clare - about 30 miles from Witham [60 mile round-trip...Really?]...if not: a return, planned, visit to the Three Bottles [50-ish miles] or loop back through the 'fields to somewhere like the George at Shalford, giving a shorter run home for all. There, aren't I kind. My Evil Organiser's Hat must be in the wash.  ;)

Seconded.

60 miles does sound ambitious given the fact that spring seems to have unsprung.

Mind you, those of use who don't live in Witham are more used to excess mileage on a Wednesday  O:-)  Well, Tomsk is.

If I recall, and the posts from a year ago seem to confirm what I'm about to say, the plan was to ride until 9:30ish, see where we were and decide which pub to head for. Perhaps we can do the same on Wednesday?

Given my recent alcohol intake (yesterday afternoon didn't help!) I could use a  "more miles, less beer" evening so could I put in a vote for a quick restorative pint is before we hit the road to ride home?

Assuming we've both got enough puff to cycle and talk simultaneously we can discuss my latest Big Idea, that being the Mid-Essex yacf Cycling Festival. Since I won't be half cut, as I was yesterday, we can have a sensible discussion as to my idea's feasibility and indeed it's desirability!  It should enhance not swamp your August audaxes so let's have a chat.

Unlike OD, I will not try to increase your workload for your first events as an organiser  O:-) but I will volunteer to help with whatever you need whether it be on the day or with route checking etc.

Tomsk, the same offer applies to your Kingdom of the East Saxons ride.

I shall be riding huggy's event and helping too if needs be. I have also volunteered The Current Mrs R to help too - she's thrilled!

None of my ideas, if they ever become a reality, will add to huggy's workload I promise.

Right, I should be out tonight.

Ted, are you riding from Chelmsford? If you are, we could do the Rayne thing?

No.

Out of interest, is Essex's foremost Ollie Murs tribute act performing at the sausage and cider festival?
You are in a maze of twisty flat droves, all alike.

What time approximately, will we meet at Rayne, 8:30pm?

One would hope it would take us less than an hour to ride to Rayne from Witham!
