The forward planning calendar suggests the Hoop @ Stock this week.  From the dusty archives this route is offered.  It can be tweaked to take in TMNH if necessary.

Curtains were drawn so couldn't see inside.... it's a long way out to Pebmarsh for a school night!

Chelmsford does.

Is that the same Chelmsford that is a short cycle from Witham?

A short but boring ride.  Its the boring bit which bothers me most.

The Hoop seems a particularly inconvenient venue for everyone except Jiber - ah, hang on  ;)

Less trains stop there though, pretty much all trains stop at Chm apart from some Norwich trains iirc.

It was on the list, I've never been so no idea what it's like :)

Given the science I used last time to sort the forward planning out I thought I had all bases covered

My memory of the Hoop is that it is quite an expensive eatery mainly but did carry a reasonable range of ales.

I hereby submit a bid for somewhere north of Chelmsford for Wednesday.

Even though I had a route planned out to get to the Hoop, it would by 100km in total so I wasn't sure if I'd be able to make it. A less extreme location would get my vote.

From home I would be 58 miles not including the actual ride from Spa to the pub.

Six Bells @ Boreham ?

75km round trip. Better for me.

GK pub - 1 none GK ale on tap.  It's OK but we could do better... I'll have a think.

As we are still in the depths of winter, why not one of the pubs we agreed were central - eg the Chapel at Coggeshall.

Eh?

I will await jiber's consideration, he's good at suggesting 'central' locations  :)

I think you mean "West Central" ie closer to the outer rim.

I'm too tired for forward planning tonight so here's the current MEMWNS scientifically derived map with the MEMWNS Center Of Gravity (COG) and the pubs listed.... (I'll add some more over the next week or 2)
I did sprinkle the planning with a mix to try and balance all interests using a spreadsheet based upon distance from both Spa RBT and the COG but the last month looks like it was a case of dumping whatever was left on the list after trying to share out the pubs on a split around the COG.  This was basically 20 pubs out of a list of 50 (all 50 have the distances on them but I went for a selection of ones we hadn't been to in the last year plus some old favs.)

So there's the method in my madness.... perhaps someone who doesn't want to go to The Hoop could solve the equation for both Andrew & Grahame and suggest a solution...

It's about 10 miles from the Six Bells (Boreham) to The Hoop (Stock)
It's 5 miles from the Six Bells to The Queens Head / Orange Tree (another alternative)

Off ya go!

I'm also happy to receive other pubs to put on the list
Regards,

Joergen
