(Jem, you have actually been past the beetles at least once on Tomsk's Winter Series SAE audax but try to look surprised when OD points them out, just to humour him!)

Yes but not by Moonlight Huggy!
(don't tell him I know all about the shining the light on the beetles to make them look all bright and outter worldly in the moonlight - I dont' want to spoil it for him or make all his preparation have been for nothing.  ;)

I shall bring the GoPro this evening so I can film the beetles by moonlight.

I’m sure you’re not, but I’m just double checking, are you suggesting you don’t want to view the beetles by moonlight?

I wouldn't want to miss that for the world.

Caveat: Except in event of any COR !!!
Just to say that section isn't off road, but unadopted Road with tarmac. Even I'm happy on that bit.

I do have issues with the moving bollards when returning from the pub....

You have my sympathies. My issue is with entrapment by grass verges: “Come to me Steve, I am soft and we will embrace...”

I’ll not be at Spa Rd on time. I’ll take a more direct route.

More importantly, will you be there in time for BB duties??

The Viper apparently, unless there is an Eastern breakaway for those recovering from A&S....

Can someone send a link for the Google Calendar and this discussion to Jos (Compasses) as he may join us with some forward planning.

Did the Calendar did say The Leather Bottle??

It did say LB but we agreed on Wed on Viper so Jos could join us.

I'll need Jos's email to add him to the calendar. I'll drop him a note on FB

Talking of Forward Planning, in August we are going on a wife swapping weekend, sorry I should have said Caravan Club Rally behind the Three Horseshoes, Mill Hill Green, CM22 6PQ. I know I have cycled past but don't think I've ever been in but their website looks nice.

Might be an ACHE friendly target pub?

Viper in Mill Green? Will toddle along if work permits.
Turn, turn, turn again

Yep - that's the one, usual 9pm arrival I expect for them that's attending.  (I think it is a reduced Witham peloton this week due to some alpine walking trip of some sorts ;) )

No that's next week  ::-)  I won't be in attendance this week as I'm away due to our company cycling event.  Then, obviously, I shall be away next week.  I will leave you to work out where I will be.

Nice training distance then! :)

Note they only take cash and don't do food on an evening iirc just in case you need some when you get there...

Which is a shame as The Viper was famous (might still be) for its chilli con carne which was/is available in different levels of hottness.  If you ordered the hottest The Viper person would check you fully understood what you were letting yourself in for.

Daytime only ? I may have it wrong on the evening food but wouldn't want you travelling 50k from home thinking tea was available if it wasn't :)  Most of the places we go to that do have food stop food before the usual 9pm arrival.  (PoW at Stow Maries serves till 21:30 as I discovered last night :) )

There's always The Cricketers up the road from The Viper for food but again, food between 6 & 9pm... There's a chippy and a co-op in Writtle (both on Bridge Street) and in Ingatestone (High Street / Fryerning Rd junction). Just in case :)
