7 course meal it is then!.........

The origin of Tapas as we know it was from the dictate in Spain that restricted drink sales in bars to being with food (the post Spanish Civil War Franco era).

Now the idiots in charge will have to come up with a meaningful definition of "substantial meal", I'm sure the bumbling fools will have something to add to confuse us even more.

Looking forward to an outbreak of Tapas bars in england - it's the only business model for a pub that stands a chance of covering the overheads in tier 2.

The brew that is just coming to the end of its conditioning phase in the keg has been named ‘Substantial Meal’.
Take away vessels can be filled so you can carry your Substantial Meal with you 🍺👍

Ok, a very light diet on Wednesday, followed by a Desperate Dan style banquet in the evening?

Though following hard on the heels of the lockdown next week, just getting out to a pub for an hour or so, for a pie and a pint and a natter would be great. Plus in a spirit of enlightened self-interest, we must do our bit to keep the pubs going.

Good info BFC!  I wonder if pubs will start doing tapas?  Many moons ago when the White Hart in Little Waltham was run by a Spanish bloke we had tapas and I got pissed on San Miguel and fell off into a ditch on the way home.

huggy, I’ll give a home to any surplus beer you might have!

This is exactly the reason I joined this group. It’s this type of behaviour that will have me meeting up with you guys for a very long time.

Building/servicing my own wheels does help keep the costs of crashing on the way home from the pub down! Doesn't cover broken forks though.

Assuming the spiritual home thinks it economically viable to open up, can I book the last space for the 2nd.

Still a theme of unclear rules I see... now a substantial meal could be a scotch egg as long as it is served on a plate and to a table.... add to that the "I understand" language on people must leave after a meal is finished - none of this language is clear and concise - but seems to be the accepted norm from this gov now!  ::-)

If you order a substantial meal and the pub serves you a substantial meal is there anything in the rules that says you have to eat that substantial meal before you are happy that you have had enough energy drinks? By the time you have topped up on energy drinks you might need to test your eyesight and we all know that means the rules no longer apply.

Ordinarily I eat relatively quickly which as we know isn't a particularly healthy thing to do.  However from now on I shall mend my ways and eat far more slowly  O:-)

“What can I get you to eat, sir?”

“Hmm, I think I’ll have the scotch egg, thank you.”

“And anything to drink, sir?”

“Certainly, I’ll have 5 pints of bitter please!”

I heard you must have a substantial alcoholic drink served with your meal.

Pfffft. All this talk of Scotch eggs, what about pickled eggs - the king of all eggs! ?
Those wonderful norks are never far from my thoughts, oh yeah!

Good point, surely a picked egg served in a packet of crisps constitutes a substantial meal?  I'll just give Boris a ring to check...

I can do earlier, as I'm only working in the morning. 19:00 would be ok.

Go all continental and eat later or phone the pub and change the booking.  The table is now under the name "ACME"
