What to do with old laptop batteries?

I've got two old laptop batteries. I don't want to send them to landfill. What should I do with them? I though there were places I could send them to for recycling but I've been unable to find any such place. Will the battery recycling places that have popped up at supermarkets accept them or do they just want standard AA type batteries?

If it fits in the hole of my local supermarket recycle bin, they get whatever batteries I want to recycle.  I also use the local Council 'tip' that has lots of recycling options for mall sorts of things, including batteries.

My local stupor market has a batteries bin.
