Where do we fancy going on Wednesday night?  One suggestion is The Grapevine, Black Notley.

 ;D  Yes, that's it!  I was close!

The Vine Inn, 105 The St, Black Notley, CM77 8LL

I went there once a while back, we stopped for a brief drink.  Seemed very nice and if I recall there's like a balcony, a mini mezzanine type thing in the bar with a table or two on it.

Hang on, not sure the address is correct, I'm double checking ...

Right, Google has the address wrong.  Its The Vine Inn, 105 Witham Road, Black Notley, CM77 8LQ - HERE

So, who fancies it?  Or should we go somewhere else?

I stopped going there, 09 was the last time, I always thought it a bit shabby. Current reviews aren't particularly good but on the upside it's not far from the Square & Compasses if you want to decamp!

Fairy snuff.  The King Billy is just up the road if we fancy something Braintree way.

Splendid!  If we do go the King Billy you might be interested to know they sometimes have homemade pork pies available

Also, the logic route is up TMNH.

I hope it's a fine evening when we can sit outside - I'm not sure we'll be able to fit tippers in to the King Billy  :demon:
Also, I'm led to believe that the legendary pork pies are on offer quite infrequently these days, a bit like pickled eggs in other fine establishments it seems.

Morning! *waves in a cheery fashion*

Have we decided where we are going this evening?  And who is coming out to play?  For those leaving from Witham I can probably offer routes from The Encyclopedia of Mid-Essex Pub Routes TM or I am more than happy to suck the wheel of someone else with a better route suggestion.

My iPhone's Weather Dog app (other weather apps are available) indicates the rain might ease this evening.

^^^ Works for me.  I could fettle a route that involves swinging past Tomsk Towers and then the Flitch Way

I note that tippers is coming on his soot bike  ;D

I'll probably head out at 7-ish and loop north of Braintree.

Do soot bikes like the Flitch Way?  :D

It looks like it might be slightly damp...so the bike will stay home....although there might well still be something to laugh at!

Tomsk, looks like the Witham peloton will have left by 7:30 at the latest.  How about we meet you at the Flitch of Bacon at about 8:30 to 8:45ish?

If we only have an hour to get to the Flitch of Bacon I assume we'll be taking the direct route rather than via TMNH.

 for the Flitch and the King Billy. I was wondering if I was going to get out past that vicious dog though. Forgetting the helmet and having to go back past it twice......
