Would folk be interested in sampling the delights of a Tiptree Pub?

Probably best just to leave our helmets on then?  Do Castelli do stab vests ?

What are you saying....you have more chance of being mowed down by a Zimmer frame in the New Times!

the Ship is also a possibility but that is where the kids go and the Bonnie Blue Oak I am just going to avoid by reputation!

The Ship is the pub I've driven past loads of times.  I knew it was something nautical.

Safer ground at The Swan in Little Totham??
Just another suggestion as we seem to have gone cold on The Oddie....thinking about temperatures last week The Oddie would probably have included train assistance return  ::-)

I'm happy either way. The Tiptree pubs aren't that bad though (as in they aren't really dangerous) and if the Anchor is rubbish the New Times is a safe bet although maybe a bit non description.

I'll go with tl what others want though.

Oddiecol is on for next week right?

I am now available on Wednesday.  All we need is the guest of honour sister carol to confirm which week.

Yes, let's go to The Oddie. I shall get the train home.

As penance I shall go to Meta Fit at 6:30 on Thursday morning if I can book a space.

I'll have to give Wednesday evening a miss [first time this year?] - we've an early start on Thursday to drive up north [Aunt Maureen's funeral].

Have fun at the Oddie - seems like only yesterday we were there...

So that means neither of our two legends will be in attendance on Wednesday evening.

I can see the train being very busy without Tomsk or DL to keep you all honest

What hope is there?  We're all doomed, doomed I tell you.

I had you down as Pike rather than Fraser.

DL is Captain Mainwaring obviously and Tomsk would make a fine Sergeant Wilson.

Shall We take the train there as well?  ;D

Interesting that our 2 legends will be absent due to different ends of the life cycle!

Good Luck to the Doggers and thought with the Tomsks

Fantastic, it looks like I'll be able to make the Oddie tomorrow evening.

The year's gone so  quickly and there'll probably be tears in my eyes as I descend the beer garden steps, either because I'm filled with emotion remembering meeting you splendid blokes for the first time or I recall my injuries. See you tomorrow.

I remember you once said you could juggle.  Please can you bring some chainsaws or flaming torches and put on a bit of a show?  After all The Oddie is your stage for circus skills.

Copy of event on the Witham Cycling Facebook page:

As a club we have secured a 2 hour Track Taster Session at the Lee Valley Velodrome on the evening of Wednesday 4th May between 18:00 and 20:00. If you would like to experience a taste of the track this is your opportunity. More details available at the link.
https://www.visitleevalley.org.uk/en/content/cms/london2012/velo-park/#track
The Velodrome charges have increased a little since our last visit in January; depending upon numbers cost of the evening will be between £27 and £35 for the 2 hour track session, this figure includes £12 for bike hire but shoe hire is an additional £7 if desired. I will initially close the book at 15 confirmed places and put additional interest on a wait list until I get more than 20 to make hiring a second instructor economical. A second instructor will allow a further 15 places and the closer we get to a total of 30 participants the more economical it becomes.
Before the event you will need to have valid CTC or BC 3rd party insurance by way of membership of one of those organisations and be a signed up member of Witham Cycling which can be completed on the day if necessary. As a club we are affiliated with CTC and members of Witham Cycling can take up discounted individual associate membership here https://www.ctc.org.uk/join-membership/setup/AFMI using our club number 90063203 which provides 12 months of 3rd party insurance.

You will be responsible for getting yourself to the VeloPark. I will probably be travelling by train to Stratford and walking from there. At least 30 minutes needs to be allowed for walking from Stratford train station to the Velodrome. You should plan to arrive soon after 17:00 to allow for checking in, changing and getting set up on a bike.

To secure your place please send your £25 per person deposit to me. An easy way of doing this is to use PayPal at this link:
https://www.paypal.me/GrantHuggins/25
I will also take traditional cash in person, please PM to let me know you are interested.

In January we had 27 people enjoy the same experience, many of whom I expect will want to repeat it. For a little taste of the evening you can see a video here: https://youtu.be/zL79IrmblTg

Tailwind for tonight (outbound).  ;D

To go with the heavy rain and 3C temp  :-\

I'm still kidding myself that I'm going to make it out tonight.

So long as it isn't going to icy (and it's not) I'm heading out - I don't care.  I need some time on the road and I shall be stuck indoors all weekend.  I shall be getting the train home though - I allow myself these small luxuries  ;D

I will be out.

It's not far to or from home and the route there can be lengthened or shortened depending on conditions.

Will probably aim to intercept what is left of the Witham peloton somewhere.

Tokyo, you need to be out, it's been a while since you made it.

It's 50/50 for me at the moment. Some clever person decided that one of the banks systems didn't need to work on the 29/02 followed up by incompetence in correcting the issues (not mine) mean I am up to my eyeballs in Excel sheets trying to find pennies of differences for the second day running.

Mind you, I might just have a Sod It moment and come to the Oddie regardless, what is the wort that can happen!
