Second Oaky route in a row to involve a section of gravel track.  This one was a limited time only offer courtesy of Essex County Council Highways Department's chip and seal team  :-\

Did you get wet on the way home, I discovered I was actually riding into the storm before I could avoid it.... biblical rain fall resulted in me having to use the garmin to tell where the road was!

The very occasional spot of rain as I was arriving home.  5 or 10  minutes later it was Biblical.

This Wednesday, perhaps a gentle/short-ish option 'cause several of the peloton are riding Kingdom of the East Saxons on Saturday? Suggested by jiberjaber today on the Windmill 200...

Ted said he couldn't make it either.... one could draw conclusions from this!   :o

Weather looking damp ("light rain") at the moment for Wed with a strong SW wind.  ???

I am still hoping to be out as I'll have a new back wheel by then hopefully.

I found a new game to play on Sunday, t's called trying to nick Raymond's Bounty out of his back pocket......  ;D

I did make the suggestion. It was roundly rejected.

Compasses is most central but we've been quite a lot of late, Viper has been neglected for a while... any other ideas?

Ted gave us a mandate to 'go as west as we fancied' as he wasn't coming out this week....  not sure I'm up for that this week...

Happy with either Compasses or Viper.

Otherwise: Walnut Tree at Broads Green?  Rose and Crowm Gt. Waltham?  White Hart Lt. Waltham?

Walnut always looks a bit dead, White Hart a bit posh, Not seen enough of Rose and Crown to form an opinion... but I haven't been in any of them so happy to be guided. :)

If you lot don't go to The Rose & Crown tomorrow we must go soon as I don't think we've been back since "that night"!

it was the top of very high and slippery slope (I think someone also removed my brakes blocks as I went over the edge), Oaky or OD will be along with a link to the post that refers to 'that night'

Special request, how about the Axe and Compasses in Aythorpe Roding on one of 13th, 20th or 27th July? For me, it would be good to have something in the diary so that I can arrange to not be working in London on that day.

Walnut Tree has indeed been pretty quiet whenever we have visited (apart from 'that night').

White Hart is the same ownership as the Angel and Harp, I believe, so fairly food-biased?

Rose and Crown looks to have gone upmarket since we were last in there, judging by the lack of pork puppets on their menu. (Also indicated by the very existence of a menu!)

I vote for the Viper. We seem to go there more in the winter, though if it is wet tomorrow, we won't be out in the beer garden  :(

We should pencil in the Aythorpe Roding Axe and Compasses for psyclist: any of those July dates are ok for me.
