OK, I've watched it again.
On reflection, I can conclusively say "Bloody hell".

Bring on the next series.

HTH

We're going to get a major character return to help save him, apparently.

I'm not talking about Zoe...

Looking forward to this though I'll be in the pub when it's on.
I'll avoid this thread 'til I've seen recording.

Most excellent. Role on next week.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

Bloody briliant  Totally gripping stuff. And you can watch the next episode on Friday, I believe on BBC Three!

8 episodes for a season is a tad short but Mr Welshness and I both agreed that the writing was very tight, I don't think there is going to be any filler/fluff for the rest of the series.

I thought it was a bit 24ish myself. Still, we'll see.

I liked the fact that the Indian bloke commented, "everyone else was at it like rabbits" when reviewing Harry and Ruth's relationship.  So...I (along with every viewer) wasn't the only one to notice that then.

What amazes me about spooks is that (at least for me) every episode is feature film quality (and we're talking good films here - not your B movie crap). Excellent stories, excellent writing, and excellent acting. Edge of the seat stuff.

I also like the fact that they don't flinch from killing people off. Keeps you well and truly guessing.

Oh ! Exciting !
That was gripping.

It was good to see Ruth back, even if it is only for one episode.
It reminded me of the "Racist" episode a few series back when I laughed out loud:-

Ruth is standing over unconscious racist group leader. She's holding a stick:

Ruth: "Shall I hit him again Adam ?"
Adam: "Only if you want to Ruth."

I'm glad Jo's got over her too much black eye makeup phase. It was really annoying me last series.

No, but I was thoroughly irritated and not a little baffled that a (presumably) low paid civil servant would be so cheerful at having his bike written off (no flesh wounds, bruises or torn clothes either come to that) by a moton and would just wander off without stopping to educate the aforementioned moton in the error of his ways...

...and there's me thinking Spooks was supposed to be a documentary. ;)

It was a cheap supermarket bike shaped object and it was his first day in his new job at The Grid where they operate a bike to work scheme so he knows he is getting that shiny new fixie he has been lusting after.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

I was slightly mollified when Mrs MV pointed out that as he hit the ground and rolled, his head failed to make contact with anything.  Proving, she says, that helmets protect you :)

I was impressed by the makers' judgement in the honey-trap scene.

I reckon any other post-watershed 'modern' drama would have had Jo get a lot further in her seduction of The Bad Guy before the distraction/cavalry arrived. Shows you don't need nudity for a scene to work. That and the stolen moments scene at the end were wonderfully retro in style.

[Regarding the closing of the honey-trap - i was hoping for something like:

BB: It's no good - I can't shoot a man in cold blood <cries>
Jo: Oh give me the bloody gun you useless poet <shots, blood ... >
