Title: cutting wrought iron gate supports

I need to remove 2 gates suspended from brick pillars.  These were assembled in the 50s and the brackets in the brick work are wrought iron like the gates as far as I can tell.

I want to remove the wrought iron hinge flush with the brickwork. 

I have in my possession a Bosch multitool mains powered.  I can buy suitable blades (any advice gladly received)

Alternatively I can buy/ rent an angle grinder for a day.  What would you recommend?  Is there a better alternative I have not considered?

Hacksaw with good quality blades. Bahco are good.

Will take less time to cut than it would to run your extension lead.

And, by turning the blade at 90 degrees to the handle, you will be able to cut flush with the brickwork.

If they really are wrought iron and not mild steel, see if your local blacksmith wants them.  No-one makes wrought iron any more, so it is quite sought-after.  It rusts far less slowly than steel.
