I went for a walk along the towpath of the Kennet and Avon Canal near Hilperton. This is a popular route for cyclists but the canal bank is slowly receding due to the weight of traffic on the canal (and holiday boats being driven too fast). It is therefore quite narrow.
Every cyclist who passed me said thank you for me moving to the side. *Every* one. Young, old, BSO, ESB, normal clothes, lycra.
I was very pleasantly surprised. That must have been many hands worth of cyclists.
