The voice of the early Eurosport cycling commentaries has passed away.

That's really sad.  I used to love his commentaries.  Hilarious.  Informative, too, mostly about food.
Milk please, no sugar.

Not everyones favourite commentator but a legendary part of our sport.

So long David. I'll raise a glass of nice red to you tonight.

David was Moulton's first marketing manager in the 1960s, and helped promote the bicycles in 1962 by breaking the Cardiff to London speed record on a Moulton.

He appeared at the annual Moulton Bicycle Club meetings in recent years to reminisce.

He was honorary President of AUK for a while, and could be relied on to tell us the Queen album cover story at the AGM.

Sadly, it's goodnight Duffers. I loved his commentaries, and the ramblings. I can't see how you couldn't like his delivery. From memory, (and nowadays it seems woefully unreliable) I seem to remember a few chaps on here were rather agin old Duffers.  But let's face it, who out of any of us, would be able to keep a running commentary going on a cycle race, and concentrating solely on the race. I suppose it's comparable to listening to a 5-day cricket match. Personally, I'd be off burbling about nonsense within 10 minutes.
Certainly never seen cycling south of Sussex

I've only ever seen Eurosport's TdF coverage on the German version so my understanding of the colemantators was at best vague.  But somehow I doubt they'd be talking about cheese during a lull in the action.

Absolute legend. I think it was he who started the greeting "Chapeau!" which is now the annoying "Wassssusssppp?" of the cycling world. He certainly was responsible for assembling an almost inconceivable number of naked ladies on bikes for a much-loved promotional poster.

He spoke at a cycling dinner I attended years ago. It was at lunchtime, but he rambled on for so long it was dark by the time it ended and I had to ride home without lights.

He was due to speak at my club's dinner a few years ago but was snowed in and couldn't make it. He committed to come back the following year and he did. A true gentleman and one of a kind. He'll be fondly missed.
