More Brompton fettling (lots of pictures)

I've bought myself a nice green Birdy elastomer block from Bikefix to fit to my shiny new Brompton S2L when it arrives.

It's the first time I've upgraded a bike I haven't got yet... worrying... but I thought that since I'm a heavy feller, I might as well get the block in advance.

Anyway, any experiences with using the green Birdy elastomer instead of the hose clips? It's apparently harder than the standard Brompton rubber thingy.

I think it needs slight modification to fit.

The hose clips look fine, but make sure you get stainless ones.  Mine are genuine Jubilee clips.

Got my brompton a couple of days ago, haven't had a chance to try it out yet

fitted the green birdy elastomer, which does indeed need some minor adapting/cutting in order to fit.

The elastomer is so, hard, however, that it didn't give at all when i sit on the bike, despite my 18 stone weight, so I've put the original rubber thingy back on, with a jubilee clip.
