This is the reality for the residents of the village, which straddles Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, who have been made reliant on water bottles and tank water in conditions described as “worse than camping”.

Not having an actual porcelain lavvy to sit on or a bed and a pillow to kip on.
Do not clench. It only makes it worse.

Popping down to the plastic loos at pee-oclock and finding that your choice of loo has a mound of poo-and-paper that would touch your ring, if you sat down. The next one is the same. And the next. Oh, joy! The next too!
It is simpler than it looks.

And still, idiots keep shouting that 'there is no climate change, the earth is getting cooler', 'more CO2 is good, or plants will die' (that is my favourite idiocy) and 'greta is a spoiled brat' (anyone less spoiled I've never seen in my life).

It’s been a few years but most of the above responses just sound like camping to me!

I slept in a phonebox once. It was dry, but it was worse than most of the camping I’ve done.

New Cross hostel, above but unrelated to the new Cross inn below. Most the group I was with caught what looked like scabies. Thankfully one of my mates is a tad of a porker so snored so much I sat up and read as couldn't sleep

Was also working out what to tie the bed sheets to if had to climb out a window in event of fire. Could have added curtains if there were any. And I was really serious. The place looked a death trap and we did report to London fire brigade

If I went to the loo in the middle of the night and something larger and bitier than a previously-snoozing hare tried to jump into my private parts, that would be worse than camping.

Hang on, I think we're missing the obvious:

Cycling from one end of the country to the other, camping in a different place each night, seeing the sights etc. is Type 1 Fun.

Cycling from one end of the country to the other without stopping to camp is Type 2 Fun.

Therefore "worse than camping" is "audax".

Actually, i really like camping and mostly prefer it to being at home. So TBH I'd say most home conditions are worse than camping.
Besides, it wouldn't be audacious if success were guaranteed.

Finding the bus shelter full of peeing and pooing sheep being guarded by a very conscientious sheep dog (adds, in a country where the dogs guard the sheep from bears and the like; worse would be finding the bear outside, waiting for the dog to finish his shift!)

At least it's not full of peeing audaxers...

The other night I found a slug crawling up my bathroom wall.  I'm 4 floors up, so it must have been quite a climb.  Now I've got water dripping into the flat.   Damp & slugs,  I'll just have to pretend I'm camping.

I found a slug that had come in on a firewood log last week.  I think it wanted to get warm.
