Tonight, Matthew, we are having home made pizza. Mr Bait does an excellent slow-fermented pizza base, which he cooks on his enormous pizza stone. I get the job of dividing it up when it comes out of the oven, which I shall be doing with my new Raven Forge pizza axe (I was miserable and needed cheering up, and sharp pointy things always work as a fillip for my mood -- yes, I can spell maladaptive coping strategy, thank you).

Mrs ED is away, therefore I have been cooking on the open fire...

After our 1999 hurricane, when the power was out for three days, we cooked steak over a wood fire in the kitchen fireplace.  Excellent!

My sister and her other half once cooked christmas dinner on the barbie when they had a similar power cut.

Found a decent-sized chicken-of-the-woods growing on the trunk of my hawthorn tree on Saturday, so sliced it up and fried in butter to accompany chipolatas, fried eggs, baked tomatoes and home-made chips.  Was very tasty - sorry, no pics!  Followed by blackberry and apple crumble which the boys helped me make with the fruit we'd picked earlier in the week.
