Seen yesterday, Brommie at Didcot
« on: 30 April, 2009, 10:32:32 am »
I was on the train home and a suited business chap, as middle-aged as I, was on the platform with a rather fine turquoisy Brommie with a SON dynohub. Quite specialised kit, I suppose.   I just wondered if anyone here knows him, or the bike.

If that's the Turkish Green? Then yes, it's rather a magnificent colour.

Mr & Mrs Flying Monkey have matching ones. (bikes)

There are loads of Bromptoms at Didcot, but I haven't spotted any Dynohubs (Brommie hubs look odd normally, don't they?).

I now have an excuse to approach strangers at the station.

Not especially, no.  Just radially spoked.  The dynohub is very obvious - it looks damn big in that little wheel

Plus, it's a very fetching colour of bike, as Sgt B says. Hard to miss.

Always handy.

I saw one that colour in Bath a couple of weeks ago.

The dynohub looks like this:

For some reason you have to omit one of the standard washers when fitting it, or the skewer isn't quite long enough.  Maybe German engineering really is fallible.

The chap with long hair? He rides that every day.

I don't know - it was parked outside a shop between the end of the towpath (or at least where the sign directs bikes to get off) and the city centre.

Yesterday I had to slow down and navigate through a big bunch of 'pretty stoned' yoofs. (a thicket)
The one piped up "Hey, that's a bit of a girls bike!" I quickly snapped back "Yeah, you should get one in pink!"
Lots of "Arggghhh, owned!" To him, and a shout of "Nice one, mate!" To me.

My first Brommie is due to arrive on Monday.  It has a Turkish Green Frame and purple extremities (the same colours as my primary school tie) and the guy in the bike shop said that it looks lovely.
