Brandy and soda.
During the pandemic, I listened to a lot of very old radio dramas. Often, older types of drink would be mentioned. Oscar Wilde's bright young things drinking hock & seltzer; Paul Temple ("By Timothy, you're right!") and his wife - Steve - drinking gin & ginger ale, and elderly, jowly-voiced retired-brigadier types, orf at their clubs. "I shall be in the smoking room; I should like a large brandy & soda..."
And, as I drove about Yorkshire, listening to this stuff, I'd find myself wondering if brandy & soda (with no ice - this was England in the 50s) would be any good.
I was not disappointed.
